Smoking a Cohiba Lanceros 2001 tonight. This absolutely classic Cuban cigar delivers flavours of such complexity and finesse that I am literally floored. Paired with a Highland Park 18 and pure Norwegian glacier water life feels complete.
A day on the golf course, which meant: La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor, Jaime Garcia Riserva Especial, followed up at home with a Jaime Garcia Riserva Especial LE 2011 and now an Oliva Serie O Robusto.
Smoking a divine H. Upmann Monarcas rolled at the Jose Marti factory, Habana in the late 1990`s. It is always interesting to compare the Sir Winston and the Monarca, both Churchill size cigars from the same marca. Both are among my absolutely favorite cigars.
I rather like Lanceros myself! Though corona's are about my favorite these days (more of them).
As you can see from the below photo, I am continuing on with my search for my "go-to stick." My every day cigar... one 5 pack at a time. One viola at a time lol. I am on a Drew Estate kick right now.

I have to admit that though I enjoy the Undercrown, I find them a little over rated. The the two larger sizes I have tried so far have been disappointing compared to the MUWAT and the Joya de Nicaragua "Antano." Unfortunately none of these come in a lancero (that I know of anyway).
Actually - the oily Antano dark corojo was remarkably good!! I might have to spring for a box of 4.5 x 52's :)!
Will pick something reminding me of old school Cuban cigars tonight. I think I have a box of January 05 Partagas Serie P. No. 2 in my largest cabinet. This is one of the earliest box codes of P. No. 2`s released. The smell hitting you opening the box can easily be compared to your finest shaving experience. Very close to the smell of a mature Leoville Las Cases Bordeaux, Cuban tobacco, cedar, leather, earth, ripe red fruit and spices from the cask. Add some white pepper and espresso crema and you are into Partagas heaven. Time to fire it up slowly with my St.Dupont Ligne 2.
Fluidum with the Cuban Pyramide will be the outstanding Ardbeg Uigeadail Single Malt from Islay, Scotland. Often I find the very peaty whisky`s from Islay to be one dimensional because of the camp fire overwhelming everything, not so with the Ardbeg Uigeadail. A perfect expression of the finest destillate from Islay stored in both Bourbon and Sherry casks blended close to perfection and released at cask strenght. I use Riedel cognac glasses drinking whisky of this quality. A standard open "whisky glass" ruins the experience, and if you add ice as well you kill it instantly. Those are just my personal preferances:-))
Found this at New Havana Cigars. Now I am tempted...

Not bad for everyday smoking.

Joya De Nicaragua Cabinetta Serie No.2 (Belicoso), 6 x 54.
Very nice flavor cigar. Easy going smoke with creamy vanilla notes and a toasty finish.

Crazy :)!! i just bought two boxes of Joya de Nicaragua myself :). The 1979 and the Dark Corojo. I'll let them rest for a month or so before smoking but that cabinetta is one great looking cigar! I'll keep my eye out for some considering your description :).
Here is a pick of the box of Dark Corojo's I got in along with some other samplers - the presentation and box is second to none!! I loved the signed note.

I was in the mood for a good stogie today and the Aroma De Cuba Imensa certainly fit the bill. Gosh these are great cigars! Fall in these parts is wonderful. Nice cool sleeping weather in the evening and early morning, with cloudless sunny days, the oppressive heat and humidity seems to have taken its leave. Nice long, comfortable smoke on the lanai while I soaked in the Chamber of Commerce weather. Now on to some school work. Maybe a beer or two afterwards

Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial Super Gordo (pre-cut torpedo), 5 3/4 x 66.
Interesting two-hours cigar for spending a nice evening.
"Not child" format, but the flavor is nice.
"I taste pepper with a spicy earthy flavor and a hint of chocolate. The pepper fades away quickly and I taste herbs instead.
The cigar remains spicy though. After half an inch the chocolate gets stronger".

Had myself a nice glass of bourbon and a Trinidad Reyes yesterday! These little guys are great!
Bahia Icon Gran Robusto, 5 x 55.
Good cigar for reasonable price for everyday smoking.
"A good-looking cigar that is toasty, bready and woody in character. Light, creamy notes make this a very mild cigar".

I smoke cigars (and pipes) for about 8 years. And all this time I try to find something new. I don't have a regular cigar. If in pipe smoking I found "my" tobacco. "My" cigar is on its way to me.:)
And I like the great number of cigars brands, types etc.
Aging Room Small Batch M356 Presto, 4 1/2 x 48.
Very nice Dominican baby.:)
"An attractive little robusto that has hints of roasted nuts, baked fruits, cinnamon and nutmeg. Very flavorful and complex".

that looks like a very good cigar :)
Why dont you share? lol
Im a big fan of the Dominicans
I just like a lighter cigar.. im not versed enough in the world of cigars yet to make it through a full sized full body cigar.
Tried one the other day, great cigar .. just to strong for me to finish
It was an A Fuente Gran Reserva
Well... looks like winters here in Minnesota, getting snow on and off today.
So, my favorite way to enjoy a good cigar has come to and end until spring :(
I like to just sit down and relax in the park, enjoy the beauty of nature on a fine day.
Sometimes me and a few friends get together and enjoy each others company, while lazily puffing on a stogie..
Other days i do it alone, and just take it all in.. sit and think about deep stuff, like life and love.
http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/...ps126b0be8.jpg
^ seeing that im not allowed to enjoy one indoors.. now i have to figure out what im going to do
Am i going to freeze my rear end off and have it outside in negative temperatures.. or perhaps there is a cigar bar around here somewhere..
Nice!! I just finished sitting on my back steps enjoying a Casa Magna while I watched the drizzle/mist coat my back yard today here in Kansas... it's not cold (62), just wet. I was going to have a hot shave after but half way through, I jumped in the car, opened all the windows and drove about looking at the trees changing colours. Awesome. Then I decided to pick up my son a bit early, as the pepper lingered on my tongue. We just got home after hanging out at a cemetery in the mist for a bit. Great day! Time to prep the dinner :).
As for winter - they aren't as bad down here, but it does get cold non-the-less. I am stocking up on corona's and resting my larger sticks for when that time again comes when I can sit back in a park and just take it all in.
I am considering moving to either Missouri or Texas, getting away from the winter..
In the winter i cannot ride my motorcycle, enjoy the park with a cigar, drive the hotrod, or do any other number of things i love.
Not to mention, im tired of living in a blue state, all the BS is starting to get on my nerves.. Gotta go south :)
SO sorry if your a blue oriented person.. I just dont agree with you on just about everything :P
Anywho..
I have been compiling a little "scrap book" of sorts for Cigars that i have smoked.
Here is a picture of my cover so far, what do you guys think? is this a good idea..
http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/...ps82c4d044.jpg
Im doing it so i can remember accurately exactly how i felt about a particular cigar.
If i have never had one before, i save the ring and then glue it into this book.
I then write up all the info about the cigar, and do a personal review.
That way if i ever want to try a new one at the store, but cannot remember if i have had one or not. I have the book, or if i want to try one again.
For example, my favorite of all time is the "Havana Honey, Vanilla" and my worst ever to date is the "CAO Java, Caramel Machhiato"
I enjoy the Drew Estate Acid's, but their more of a peppery note, where as i like the sweet notes you get in the havana's.
I do enjoy non infused, but i prefer to stick with infused cigars.
There isnt many on there, but i started only a month or 2 ago.. and i have had ALOT of doubles of a certain type, not just one
I think log-books are great...I review one out of five.

I go deep :).
Tonight's smoke:

Look at me! I'm a little fatty :).
Tasted great! The ash was a "little" flaky.
Attachment 144907
Hey! I'm no tight ash!!
Attachment 144908
Some flakes are...
Overall, it 66* and the cigar short of the ash was great... what more could a guy ask for? Maybe a blue state?? LOL!
I had a 54 gauge rolled for a local cigar shop by one of the founders of my fathers cigars , dark wrapper, not a maduro something similar (cant remember what the proprietor called it, it wasn't something i had heard of before)
Guy bought 500 of 2 gauges and blends each, and has them hiding at the back of his shop. they are fantastic.
if you in my area PM me and ill send you the address.

May be, not so deep for all cigars, but log-books are needed.
Few days ago, got L'Atelier Lat 56, 6 1/2 x 56.
Very nice tasty cigars.
"The burn and draw are superb on this beautifully balanced cigar. Notes of chocolate and wood build on the palate before taking on touches of vanilla and earthy truffle".

It's a rainy day here in the Midwest. But the annual smoking of the butt for Halloween night festivities will not be deterred by mere rain!! We'll put the smoker in the garage, and call it the perfect excuse for a cigar me thinks!! Today's "smoking" smoke, the 601 La Bomba in corona. :)
Attachment 144949
It's hard to tell, but it's pouring rain lol. Beautiful fall day though.
The smoker is at the right temp... time to start Hurfing :)!
Attachment 144950
Yeah the band ended up staying on my finger like that the whole smoke lol...sigh.
No better way to enjoy a stick than to man the smoker (in the garage today due to the rain) and watch the time float away...
Attachment 144953
I will say that though I love the rousto's, the corona is rather tobacco-ish. Too bad really - glad I only have two of them :).
In my quest to burn through the 601 line, today's flavor was the Green "Oscuro." As I waited for the box in of my favorite winter size to come in via UPS, the Corona, I lit up one of their rubusto's.
All I can say is... holey leather batman!! This thing is a whole ton oh leather with a little bit of pepper to complement the abundance of vitamin N. This surely IS their strongest blend!! Wow.
As you can see my delivery made it in as I smoked.
Attachment 145485
My boy loves Angry Birds lol.
Attachment 145490
Rolled in 2010 - nice!
I have to admit, had I smoked the robusto before this box of corona's went on sale, I might not have bought them! They are a good cigar and some on hand is surely the way to go but I don't know if I'll be able to stand for 15 minutes after nubbing the thing lol. Man this thing is strong - I hope the corona's will not kick me in the... like the robusto did lol.
Bah, on a cold winters morning when I am feeling sleepy and want to feel like I just ate my sofa and I can't stay awake - this will be just what the doctor recommends :)!!!
A good ash is generally a sign of a well rolled cigar. looks like you got a full boat of them!
As you can see my delivery made it in as I smoked.

I'll be smoking an Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 Flor Fina maduro tonight.
These are my favorites :)
http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9240a3ce.jpg
This is in cigarillo form, not the full ring gauge.. but still takes 40-45 minutes to burn through.
I love them for their forthcoming vanilla and chocolaty flavor and smell. I can notice it far better than any other infused i have had yet. (still not many, im new to this so to speak)
Attachment 145772
That's one hoppy beer!!
Attachment 145773
But this is one smooth cigar!
Brushing my teeth before going to bed tonight is going to be one hell of a buzz kill lol.
Dark, bold, and beautiful... all wrapped up in a cloak oh smoke. Ahhhhhhhhh
Attachment 146202
Oh and with x-mas is just around the corner, how about an emergency cigar tool this year??
What time is it you ask?
Well
its
time
for a Cigar my good man! What other time could it be? :)
Attachment 146203
lol, that is a pretty cool lighter.
I will be smoking an Undercrown later today. Truly a favorite everyday smoke.
Good evening to all!
Good cigar (L'Atelier Lat56) with Martini and London Dry Gin (50-50) are always nice.:)
