No martini... which is really too bad, this cigar could have used one. That or maybe a year in the humi? Not sure. All the same, tonight's cigar:

Was given this by a retailer for my patronage! "Free" cigars are the best :). This one came wrapped in one heck of a band.
Attachment 146829
Look at me all wrapped up all pretty and stuff :).
Attachment 146830
All said and done - the band really was impressive.
All said and done - the band really was impressive. But generally speaking, I wasn't expecting much. Past experience as proven that excessive bands usually mean a poor cigar. But the big bands are in vogue so who knows. Punched and lit her up.

Perfect!
Man this thing settled down quickly and smoked like a king! Like a king! I don't know if it was because it was free or not but man, it tasted great. Just a bit of oil, great retro-hail, not too strong.
Attachment 146832
Great ash - did I say this thing smoked like a king?
All said and done, I would certainly buy em again. Considering I was given a coupon code for 5 free if I spend over $70.00, it's a given. Nice change :).
Casa Fernandez Miami Aganorsa Leaf Maduro El Supremo, 6 x 58.
Very nice cigars in maduro with rich taste.
"Oily and richly colored, this cigar is nearly flawless in construction. A lush draw imparts strong notes of toast, nuts and caramel with ample chocolate undertones".

Actually this was yesterdays smoke in honor of JFK's passing. It is an H.Upmann Majestic which is the closest I can come to JFK's beloved vitola of H.Upmann Petite Upmans. The petites were discontinued by HSA several years ago.
They were the cigars that JFK had Pierre Salinger scour all the local cigar shops for as JFK was going to sign the Cuban embargo the next day. : )

For you Habanos lovers. The first shots here are the original 1918/1919 tubo with a Cuban release. They did not slide on the "lid" nor was it a twist off but was bound with putty and a pull tab. I smoked one of these about 4 years ago or so and it was delightful and in perfect condition. Prior to these both Cuban and other tubos were glass.

Attachment 147036
And now one of the finest Cuban cigars I have had the pleasure of smoking and worth their weight in gold, the Cuban Dunhill Tubo's.
Attachment 147037
And to sip and enjoy cigars some great Cuban Rum. : )
Attachment 147038
I do David, those are just empty tubos atop the humidor.

Here is a shot of a wonderful box of 1966 Por Larranaga Monte Carlos. A friend and I split the box after we won an auction in the UK several years ago.

Good evening all!
Nice pair: Casa Fernandez Miami Aganorsa Leaf Maduro El Supremo and Glenfiddich 12 years old.
Attachment 147135
Today I was at my local shop. I smoked a La Flor Dominicana, "chapter one", chisel.
A very flavorful and aromatic smoke. It Was a little tricky to keep it burning right a couple of times. Got a bit harsh if it got too hot. Otherwise a great cigar
Michael
Did you smoke the Salomon I gave you?
Bob, your collection is truly amazing! Never seen an Estupendo in real life and never will, but a pleasure just to look at your photo!
Yeah, when my numbers finally called I am going to be cremated with an Estupendo! : )
Today... well today I felt like something, substantial. 6x60 substantial. Dan, dan, dan... enter the La Bomba 6x60.
Attachment 147232
Even the spot light can't reach all of me :).
I haven't smoked a big ring in a while and gents, after smoking corona's for the past while, this thing just feels substantial in the old hand.
Attachment 147233
Oh my... what small hands you have.
It smoked like a champ. Had hints of oil, but mostly leather and tobacco. I forgot how "airy" these big rings really are.
Attachment 147234
Sure I might be big - but I can hold my own.
I tell you what - its been an hour and I have at least another 20 minutes of quality smoke left. Maybe 30. Not once has she gotten hot BUT... this thing is kicking me in the... uh, nether regions. NEED SUGAR :).
I might just have to put it out, but I doubt it. Oh the pleasures :).
Arturo Fuente Opus X Robusto, 5 1/4 x 50.
Really fantastic cigars! Very nice.

At my local shop; a tatuaje "avion" 13 reserva. Good Nicaraguan tobacco wrapped in broadleaf.
A very flavorful and strong cigar. Not for the nicotine naive or those inexperienced with cigars. Attachment 147362
Michael
Funny - I love the Opus X, but can't find them anywhere. As for the Tatuaje's... man I still haven't had one lol!!
Liga Privada No. 9...loved it
In my experience, Opus X cigars have been hit or miss. I still have some with 15 years of age on them, and they haven't survived well at all. Most of them have no flavor at all. I've recently been smoking lots of La Aroma de Cubas, the "New Blend", the Mi Amor and the Mi Amor Riserva. All these are packed with flavor.
Cohiba Esplendido

She's a lot of mild-medium cigar :)

Alec Bradley Prensado. Nice smoke for sure.
love those Joya Antano's. the dark crojo is also a pretty good one from Joya.
My Uzi Weighs A Ton Bait Fish, 4 x 44.
Nice cigar for everyday smoking and for short smoke with coffee.
"The Uzi Bait Fish is full-bodied. It features loads of earth, oak, black coffee, and a bit of milk chocolate, creating a complex, full-flavored smoke".

The bait fish is one of my favorite cigars for a quick smoke. If you haven't yet I suggest you also try a Papas Fritas. Similar size and a great flavor.
I bought a 5 pack of those little suckers. Loved em so much, I bought 50 more for winter :). Perfect size for the quick afternoon smoke and yeah, awesome taste! Try the +11, they are great too... its a sickness lol.
Today's cigar was one I have had before, the Undercrown. I wasn't too sure about it when I first got them about two months ago. I figured with all the hype, it had to be me. So, I let the rest of the samples sit in the humi for another two months.
Attachment 148026
I want to be reincarnated as a smokestack...
All said and done, I just can't get into the Undercrown. Its too bad really, I soooo wanted to like em, if for no other reason than the band lol - what a cool band :). And because man does this thing produce smoke - I love that lol.
Oh well, I am sure I'll have a guest over one day that will appreciate it.
Alec Bradley New York Six-Two Robusto
Visiting the family in Tampa last week, good to get out of the cold northern weather...and sit back with a nice stick.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps400d1555.jpg
Had a nice earthy/dirty smoke here yesterday (trying out the whole "Oval" line).. I can't wait till the rest of the fiver I got get a couple more months on them! I am going to bet they'll be spectacular.
Attachment 148710
I really do like the "oval" shape.
More importantly though - I got in a shipment today!! Woot! 55 sticks of a cigar I absolutely love. Marry Christmas to me :).
Attachment 148711
Oh man that's a whole lot oh love - good thing I like em :).
Smoked 1 of these sticks tonight, a Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos. I'd love to try some Uzi Weighs A Ton Bait Fish smokes, but you can't get them here in the UK.
Yeah, bum deal for both of us... I'll be tapping up the next mate of mine that goes to the States for sure. There are loads of Nicaraguan cigars available over here, just not that brand. The mind boggles as to just how many cigars they produce. Check out the link below to the Nicaraguan smokes available over here from C.Gars Ltd.
