Been a while since I posted to this thread. Started the day with an Oliva connie reserve, finishing a man-o-war puro authentico right now and have a cuba libre One in the wings to follow it.

It was the New Blend and yes, it was quite delicious. This evening I smoked an Arturo Fuente Hemingway which was also outstanding.

If you like the New Blend, give the Lancero a try. Normally, I don't like the shape but in the LADC New Blend it really accentuates the flavors in the wrapper and increases the strength a bit as well.

Guy at the pipe shop gifted me with a Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne when I went in to get boxes for shave gear and another "ciggy" bank for one of my kids. SWMBO would NOT approve in any way, but I haven't enjoyed cigar nor pipe in YEARS now...and with the stress of the past six months (esp. the last two), I think I deserved it. I sat and enjoyed it thoroughly while talking to a couple of the guys at the shop. Awesome way to end a Friday morning...but then I had to come back to work and the real world.

BTW, that was probably up there near the top as far as smoothness and taste of any cigar I've ever had. Would definitely love to enjoy another.

Stogie du jour was an Arturo Fuente Curly Head Deluxe with a nice cup of French Roast coffee. The cigar was a bit milder than I normally prefer and the burn characteristics weren't great but overall I'd have to say it was an enjoyable smoke.

The last time I posted I asked if anyone had seen a Carbonell, seems that they are hard to get now if not impossible, however I bought 2 boxes of presedentes in 96,for when my boys get married, also socked away a box of Fuentes Royal salutes, along with some others, but as for today
an Ashton VSG was in order,at the local car show, while looking and being looked at. all in all a good day, But if you are lucky enough to find any Carbonells with the yellow label, try one, you wont be disappointed.

I Love it When a Plan Comes Together: So last night I'm looking around for decent cigars that won't cost an arm and a leg that I can actually afford to smoke with some regularity. I go to the Thompson Cigars website and spy a medium body cigar called the Old Timer for < $1 a stick. Now these aren't cheap machine made Swisher Sweets or Dutch Masters, these are hand made Honduran cigars. So just when I'm ready to pull the trigger and order some of these on-line, I figure out that, "Hey, this place is in Tampa! Just cruise out there tomorrow and pick them up." Turns out this place is only about a 20 minute drive from Casa GI. No shipping costs, no waiting for the mail, I've got them TODAY. Of course, I was quite keen to set fire to one of these because the reviews on the web site were without exception GLOWING. Well, I just finished one and apparently the glowing reviews were all very well deserved. This cigar was absolutely delicious. The construction was good, burn quality was exceptional, flavor was outstanding and even though I smoked it down to about a 1/2 nub, it never got bitter, hot or bitey. Even at the bargain price, it rivaled any cigar at any price I had ever smoked. And, if you've paid any attention to my SOTD posts, you know I'm a big fan of affordable stuff that works and this one will certainly go into that category.

PS: And to round out the perfect day, I was Featured SOTD today. Life is good, fellas
