Thanked: 3795One way to get one a little cheaper is to go to one of the "eggfests" held around the country. The company brings in dozens of new eggs and registered participants bring ingredients and show off their grilling skills. Aside from the fact that you get to experience phenomenal food from experienced eggers, all of the now barely used eggs are then sold at a discount.

I have had a BGE for several years and love it. Get one and you won't regret it. Check out the egghead forum for some great recipe/technique ideas. They're as serious about egging as some guys are about shaving.

I have to ask. Ive been thinking about getting a Propane Grill, but this BGE has me interested. To have a true BBQ smoker/grill/oven all in one is something else. Anyone know the price of the Large unit?

Lemme put it this way about the Green Egg. It's the most versatile cooking machine a man could have. I have had fish, pork roast and steak cooked on the egg. You will never want meats cooked on anything else once you try it. Just get one!!!!

Let me put it this way, for the price of an extra large one you could get the biggest, badest most exotic scaled custom made razor in the whole wide world. That doesn't then include all the accessories you will want for the grill. Also there are other outfits that make similar units. They are Kamado Grills actually.

We got my dad one for father's day a couple years back and we all LOVE it. You can do anything with it. The only problem is they are expensive, and the accessories made by the same company that sells them are the only ones that fit the grills (which are also a bit pricey). But if you can afford it, you should definitely get one. Hell even if you can't afford it, it might still be worth it, they are fine pieces of work.
Usually the way we use them is to get the coals going and let the grill heat up, then grill steaks, sausage, burgers, etc. on them. When we're done with that, we can still get the heat inside the grill to about 600-800 degrees F, so we throw some ribs that we've been marinating on there for a few hours. It's a great product and makes delicious food.
