Pipe at the evening walk. Erinmores from Norup.
This is a place named 'old castle' in English.
In the ddays of the old there used to be a castle. Archeologists have actually found the remains of two castles: there was a wooden fortress about between AD 500 - 700 and castle made of stone between 700 and 1150. It was destroyed at the times of the Northern Crusades. Nowadays there's not much left.
Old gate, the only original part that's still left:

However. Archeologists have discovered many interesting items: coins, swords, ornaments etc etc that has told very much about the economic and cultural history. Here's few pics from the pages of the local museum.
Swords from the time of the 1st crusade (about AD 1150):
Razor, dated between AD 700-800:

Thanked: 1160I see the gate keepers are still doing their job well lol. Also....is that a Sheffield or W&B blade...sure has a heck of a smile on it. Wonder if Lynn could get an edge on that sucker ?! ..........Actually joking aside, would be interesting to have seen the technique used to shave with that thing.

So, it seems that more than 1000 years ago men liked to decorate their razors just like nowadays... After all, a male never stops plays: we just grow the size and cost of our toys...

Thanked: 1160First I made some Milk Punch(Coconut milk, half n half,Sugar,Rum,Mexican Vanilla,Nutmeg) It was good,Then I made a pot of French Press coffee and that was good also. Then I used the punch for creamer and made spiked coffee which was even better. But then.....I packed a Peterson 303 system with some Bavarian Baron(MacB honey n chocolate and McClellands 2001) and had that along while sipping the spiked coffee and it was Bliss !
