    Hi Guys,

I have been following this thread for some time and enjoy it very much. So much, that I am moved to take up the pipe. I went to my local store ( in the U.K) to enquire about pipes and baccy. i Had thought a poker pipe would suit me, the fellow behind the counter did not have a clue what a poker was. It maybe that this name/type of pipe is a U.S name and that we call it something else? I then asked about baccy, and that I wanted a mild blend to start such as Mississippi River, he had never heard of it. So not a good start so I left the shop. IF any Brits on here can help please do with regard to a good shop/store.
Am I correct to say that you should not inhale the smoke from a pipe as you would a cigarette? Any help would be welcome, thanks
    Stevie

Well it's cold & windy outside. I had to retreat to my dirty/dingy mancave, aka garage.

I would just go into your local store and tell them that you have been on the net talking to a mostly a bunch of Yanks or whatever you call us and then show him a picture along with the name. Pipe Shapes - Pipedia

I looked up English Poker Pipe and found a few interesting ones quick like Ferndown and Dunhill. Interesting until I saw the price! I usually don't bother to look at things I can't afford. I think it is a waste of time!

I find it interesting that I gravitate towards English blends and you are looking at American!

I can only speak for myself but I have not found an aromatic that I would buy a second time.

I am in the West Midland area, may have to try the big smoke (London). Can anyone answer my question about inhaling or not the pipe smoke, it would appear from the vids I have seen that you do not inhale but not always easy to see.

No ..you dont inhale. Pipe smoking is just like cigar smoking...you taste and sip the smoke in your mouth and puff it back out in a relaxed manner. Never inhale.

OK thanks for that Nightblade, so there should be not problems with coughing like those who smoke cigarettes or the addiction to nicotine
