Thanked: 1160My New Year's pipe is a Comoy pot with a mix of Boswell's premium Burley and a little pinch of Sutliff Butter Rum aromatic.

Thanked: 1160Truth be told I don't know why I bother with aromatics because they just disappoint me most of the time but I'm always searching anyway. Got a couple of tins of Lane 1q which is not bad but just really can't seem to find the void filler for the McClellen you know ? Hitting the rack now. just pulled a double and got to be back at it at 4. Happy New year !

Thanked: 556Don’t smoke a pipe at all anymore, so forgive me if I trespass in this thread.
When I did smoke a pipe, I enjoyed Erinmore and Erinmore Flake. Loved the aroma as did others in the vicinity. I did that until I loaded a large bowl with the Flake and wound up passing out after an hour and a half smoke. Wonder if I had nicotine poisoning.
I also felt that I was losing my sense of taste. Great aroma, but, for me anyway. too strong an after effect.David

First I heard of someone passing out from a pipe.
There are some strong blends you do not want to smoke on a empty stomach. If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 1160So true to form the Butter Rum let me down just like all the other aromatics. gurggly, wet, burney sigh............
Don't get me wrong, I'm more of a hybrid piper. I like burleys and Virginia blends mostly and some fall into that weird non aromatic aromatic category which is what I loved about McClellends 2000 fragrant matured cake bulk. it was a Virginia with a light casing but didn't smoke like an aromatic. It was so good...was. And I smoked the Frogmorton Blends when they were in their golden age too. I always want to believe theirs an aromatic out their that is just what it's described as but I always find that is only true for tin sniffing. At least in my perception anyway. I've had the lane before and it's an easy enough smoke but I will continue on in my search. That half and half was my first real codger smoke and I found it to be like a giant cigarette eek ! I started out being a MacBaren liker but everything was to burney, Capstan the Jrr Tolkien fav..was bland as heck as was Erinmore. Orlicks closed up my throat because of the perique which is too peppery for me What a dilemma ha ha. The Boswells Premium Burley so far has been the best bet but I feel like I want or need something more. Picky little critter ain't I. Or just plain nutters !
