Pretty much my friend. Although I thought your little bloke might have been shocked about something he'd just read in his book, which does happen with me from time to time, same expression...Oh Yes, and I have a little more hair on my chin than him, so we're not quite brothers in that respect.
    Stay well,

Bunch of dirty old men or group of sophisticated gentlemen enjoying their pipes and world class literature?
Either way, who cares, but that's most inspiring!

If those men were sitting around reading it in the 14th century, they may have been 'dirty old men', but today, today Giovanni Boccacchio's book must certainly be classed as fine Literature, and those of us who read it and other Literature, the Literati...

Unfortunately Boccaccio didn't know anything about pipe smoking, but he surely had a good idea about those other finer things in life!

Eureka! For a good bit now, I've experimented with so-called "cigar blends". That is, pipe tobacco blends (many of which contain maduro cigar leaf) that give you a very cigarish taste and feel. So far, Billy Budd and Big and Burley (both from Cornell and Diehl) have done the best job of the lot. Today's cigar blend however, may have them both beat.

Last evening I smoked a Cohiba Natural cigar. Man! What a great cigar. I smoked it down about as far as I comfortably could, put it out and then "rubbed out" the cigar butt on a paper towel, shredding the binder and wrapper so that the filler, binder and wrapper looked like a pile of pipe tobacco. After leaving it out to air dry for the night, I loaded a 7713B Kaywoodie with the result and WOW! This is a beauty. Of course being a cheap bast...I mean frugal gentleman, it also appeals to my don't waste anything mentality. I mean, for what we give for good cigars, why not smoke the entire thing? Even this small butt rendered enough tobacco for 2 or 3 pipes. I must say that Cohiba pipe tobacco is quite a tasty treat, I may try this with all my cigars.
