To start the day, a thimble full of Union square in a cob (not my cup of tea) and esoterica pembroke in a doc. Myfirst time time for both. I've gotta say I love the pembroke, it's a nice of English tobacco taste with a touch of sweet from the very light cognac case.
@manah I love the Pete. You truly have some lovely pipes my friend.
@ANGELO I'm pretty new also but heres my two cents anyway. I'm a previous cigar smoker ( pipes are much easier on the wallet and often tastier). Try some English blends theyre usually nice and hearty. Old Joe Kratz is another that has excellent reviews that is bursting with flavor and kick (a favorite of 1OLDGI). Mississippi mud may be a suggestion but it's not for everyone. Are you coming to us from a previous smoke or just starting with pipes. Try to stick to good quality tobacco, some of the drugstore with kill your mouth and my ruin it for you. Best of luckNo that pistol isn't the only thing under my kilt, but I can tell you both of them work just fine

There are so many different flavors in pipe tobacco so it's difficult to suggest anything. Most strongly aromatized have very sweet taste but are very light in nicotine and the taste is not always as sweet as the scent.
Most English blends have more heavy smoke and the strength varies between mild and strong. They are maybe my favorites, but because of the taste they are not for everyone. Also the room note with these is something my wife sometimes calls a dead rat.
If you want something strong in nicotine maybe try Irish Flakes (Peterson), Bracken Flace (SG) or Warrior Plug (Murrays).
My everyday smokes are Capstan blue, Erinmore Flakes and Balkan Flakes. First two are rather neutral (not too aromatized) in taste but with enough nicotine. Balkan Flakes are English Blend with Latakia and medium strenght. You either would like these or not. It's each on his own.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

It was unseasonably warm today so I had my first smoke in several weeks. Distinguished Gentleman in a cob.

Doesn't anyone know where to get s&g 1792 flake in the tin? I can't find any Samuel and gawith anywhere! When I first tried pipes I bought a few full Virginia flake tins from Samuel and gawith.if I knew you wouldn't be able to buy it two years later I would've stocked up...
