Been a heavy smoking day today...Started off with Two Vikings worth of Pilots mix and Virginia No.1...I shouldn't say it, but apparently the Pilots Mix at my local is Mclleland Brand(shhhhhh !) awesome stuff though....tonight yet another Viking with MacBaren PlumCake ! Yay ! Nummeres ! I gotta say honestly..I simply love MacBaren tobaccos .They are really tasty. My local is gonna try and order in some MacB's H&H Matured Virginia for me to try. Mmmmm I'm salivating like Pavlov...Name: 001.jpg

Just went to the MacB site and checked that out. Sounds good GI. I wish I knew what it was that makes a mixture or flake "Navy" ?? I also wish I could find a MacBaren Convention somewhere that I could get to and try all the MacBaren flavors. Time is money and money is time and I'm outta both durnnit !

eTom..I think we went through all this before last year but just in case, Happy Fall,or Octoberfest or whatever end of summer thing you may if at all celebrate. I know it isn't officially fall yet but It's been raining a lot here and the smell of it is in the air and my soul is stirrin now.

    No Oktoberfest for me!
Yes, there are a lot of activities and events in Germany in fall. As I wrote already I prefer events like re-enactment.

Newbie question. I'm going to an estate sale this morning where there'll be a pipe collection. What names should I be on the lookout for and what features/characteristics/flaws should I look out for to stay clear of?

Sir Walter in a bent Edwards. This stuff really is very reminiscent of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed. I think they've done something with their recipe to make it like that in the past its usually been a bit cigarette like for my tastes but now it's good.

Costabro, I'd avoid Brylon pipes (synthetic briar looks like plastic), metal pipes, those whose stem and shank don't integrate well, those with chewed through bits and last but certainly not least, ugly pipes or pipes you don't particularly care for. For me at least anything else is fair game. If it looks funky and nasty but otherwise you like it don't be skeered get it and I'll coach you up on making nasty funky pipes into great daily smokers

Turns out a collector or antique dealer wiped the house out in the first ten minutes. I know, because I was there 10 minutes after they opened the door. No worries, I was able to get 4 vintage safeties for a $1 a piece.

Finally cooling down here and turning into fine pipe smoking weather. Finishing a pipe of Frog Morton on the Town and will probably have another after my shower before bed.
