Dublins, Billards, anything with a large bowl, I love for VA's. They seem to really let the tobacco shine. I have had a few smaller pipes, and while they do deliver a decent smoke, by the time the tobacco really starts to sing, their empty, and the song is over. IMO

Interestingly or not, at the same time there was a bunch of new tobaccos at the K&K websites. I've not tried but some local folks who have claimed that:
    Red Lion = Old Dublin.
    Wallace Flake = University Flake.

At the same time our one and only local shop stopped importing Erinmore Flakes to Finland but took Rattrays Malcolm Flakes into selection. Damn me but i swear both Erinmores and Malcolm are exactly the same

Have no idea about the rest of those new Rattrays. Will know more within few weeks. Me & blonde, eh, wife, rented a small cabin near the western coast of Estonia for few weeks. To spend a part of our vacation there. I'll have plenty of time to check the local tobacco shops there as usually they've had a better selection of Rattrays available.
Have never tried any of the Peterson Blends believe it or not. Can't seem to get past my pilots mix .Damn I love the stuff.

Thanks for the heads up. Irish and University flakes are some of my favorites, I think I'll need to do some investigating.

I'm not Mr. Moo but after several tins through years i think there hardly is not much perique in Marlin flakes. Depends on what to compare, but i think it as va tobacco only with not artificial flavorings. Definately not the spicey bite that is common to most typical perique blends.

In Sailor scale (lol) Marlin flakes, Old Gowrie and Hal of the Wynd are all the same family with no much difference at all. Maybe some difference in nicotine strengh but even that is minimum.
I've stored few tins of Marlins. Have to open one soon.

As you know, bottom of the can says "Full Dark Virginia Flake". tobaccoreviews.com, however, says, "Black Cavendish, Perique, Virginia". Seems like there's cavendish after virginia and, then, maybe a hint of perique.

More today in the mighty PSF Kaywoodie Forum Pipe (2013):

I agree. Maybe a little perique but stoved virginia sits forward then that sweet flavor of cavendish blends in perfectly (I think). I do not think this blend is only dark virginia as the can indicates.
