Some medallions that a friend made for me. He cut them a little thick. Not bad but he needs more practice!

I goofed with this batch and got mold. Tossed it all in the garbage can.

Last night I burned a couple bowls of my OJK mixture while reading a couple chapters of The Sea Wolf. All and All it was a good night.

Late friday eve home coming pipe. For once we were lucky to get back home just few hours before the whole sw coast got hit by a hell of a storm (feeling bit malicious for those mates who still have to stay on sea right now . For once it's their turn, not ours).

Sitting on the back terrace, listening to the howling wind and stormy waves slamming the shore. Smoking Black Parrot from Karl Erik. Lager from Poznan Poland on the side.

We have ghost stories, guess like everyone. Howevers we have also a lot of stories based on our mythology and some of those are really creepy. Not all. Some have their points. Guess they were the guidelines how to survive from everyday life back then long ago.

Some of the traditions still remain strongly. Midsummer bonfires, laying birch leaves on the sides of your fron door. Kids making candle lights on the forest tracks during the darkest winter. Women picking with lilies on the midsummer morning. Etc etc.

Creatures both good and bad, but very familiar to most. Here's some (but surely not all):

    Ajatar (evil forest spirit)
    Ilmatar (goddess of wind)
Loviatar (goddess of hate and wrath)
    Luonnotar (feminine creator)
    Mielikki (goddess of forest)
    Louhi (queen of the north)
    Kuutar (goddess of the moon)
    Forest People
    Dead People
    Otso (spirit of bear)
Karhu (the name of the bear. The name you shall not say).
    Piru (demon)
    Päivätär (goddess of day)
    Tellervo (goddess of forest)
    Tuonetar (daughter of death)
    Tuulikki (goddess of animals)
Brown bear (most sacred of animals)
    Staalo (death monter stealing kids)
    Swan of death
    Tonttu (home yard goblin)
    Vipunen (protector of knowledge)

    etc etc. About 100 more.

I have this great article on Russian spirits and such and now I'm thinking I might seek out a book on Finnish folklore and creatures.

I've no idea about Russian/Slavian/Novgorodian folklore. Well some of the Ingermanlandian folklore have lot of common with the one they have in eastern Finland. Differs a lot of the ones we have in the west. We have more common stories with Scandinavian and Estonian folklore.

Guess talking about paganism is misguiding. It's just folklore and tradition. Somewhat popular still in kids stories and some folklore still have strong influence on everyday habits.

There's many books about Finnish/Scandinavian/Mythology. Maybe 'Kalevala' (by Lönnrot) is most famous. Sort of a LOTR but much more difficult to read. I mean REAL difficult.
