    Default Pipe of the Day

After a very busy business trip I finally had some "me time". Broke out my new unique briar pocket poker , and took out some Larry's blend and had a nice relaxing time

I've always enjoyed the smell of a pipe. When my brother and I were kids, if we were in a store of someplace and smelled one, it became a game, we'd take off like rabid blood hounds a see who could track the smoker of the pipe down. BTW, love that pipe, not much more need be done to it, right??

Right now Eric is sanding with 400 grit... And then a coat of stain... BLACK stain... This is going to be a tuxedo pipe (Black & White)
Then back to the 400... and More stain... He's going to try and let the grain show some... He said I should have an updated photo tonight...

Hearth and Home Stogie in my Butt Ugly Rhodesian. My first pipe in quite a while. I've been dipping lots of snuff and smoking dog rockets in the evening but with Fall on the way and the nights cooling off, smoking a pipe outside after dinner and/or before work is just what the doctor ordered. Might be time to queue up a pound of Old Joe Krantz and start pipe season properly. On a side note, bourbon season is only a couple weeks away so my pipes will soon be accompanied by a couple fingers of Maker's Mark and of course, my good buddy John Jameson is due for a visit as well.

What kind of wood is that pipe carved from? I hope the staining comes out good, and to let some grain show through. I think I know what effect your looking for, and I'm anxious to see how it comes out. I've seen some woods, walnut just for an example, in which the "backside of the grain that turns back" doesn't take the stain as readily; that looks awesome. Can't wait to see the finished pipe, pretty lines to it.
    Good day to you, Don
