Probably my last ever bowl of Orlik/Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture.

I will force it down from an Axel Celius #16 Root freehand. It came, cheap, off ebay covered with glips, glops and spots of housepaint all over the briar. I fiddled with it for a couple of years picking, scraping and oiling the mess clean. Good old guy.

Today's smoke was a bit of a departure for me. I typically don'k like latakia that much, but having it blended with the perique had me intrigued, so I bought this Peterson Balkan Delight and stuffed it in the 'ol Peterson meer. I must say that I really liked this one a lot! The interplay of the bold latakia flavor and the spicy perique was really appealing, and it has a nice strong nicotine kick. This blend has found a place in my permanent rotation alongside Orlik, and Luxury Bullseye Flake-- I will be cellaring a few tins for future use, so we'll see how it goes. If anybody else has tried it, I'd be interested to hear your opinions.

PA in a Dr grabow to start the day and using my new storm king lighter. It took a little work to get going again. But it's back from the dead

It was a momentous pipe day indeed. The pipe Du Jour was a four digit Kaywoodie Supergrain in which I burned OJK and then Billy Budd in that order. That was quite good but not the momentous part. I started smoking a pipe in 1977 and just about every since, I've heard guys rave about what a great pipe Peterson made. Well fellas, today I pulled the trigger on my first EVER Petey, a Rusticated Kinsale XL23! Isn't she lovely? Can't wait for this thing to show up. I'm sure its going to be the bees knees. I've also got a small barge of pipe tobacco inbound (a tub of PA, a tub of Granger and a half pound of G&H Happy Bogie sliced).
