Orlik blended Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture in a Paycok meer.
I am very much a VAPER enjoyer. I can't call the new version bad - it isn't that. It is, however, a shadow of the old Murray version. There - I said it. I finally said something you CAN'T get is different and better than something you CAN get. I guess that makes me an offical Old Fart. Granted, the Murray version I compare it to had the benefit of eight years in the tin, so who knows what this means.
Maybe the Orlik version will be damn near stellar in 2021 but, I don't think so. The Murray EM was, to me, a knock-out blend when it was new and it's still a knock-out. It has a depth, richness, staying power in the mouth and peppery perique that is wholly absent in the new stock. So, Orlik may improve or not, but when my Murray stash is done that'll probably be it for me. I may buy a sleeve of the new gear and put it in the cellar, though.
But, by then, my Escudo tins will be 20 years old...Last edited by MisterMoo; 10-30-2013 at 01:03 AM.

Thanked: 1160Also curious....does anybody know if there is a way to cellar bulk tobacco ? I would like to cellar some of that Pilots mix that I buy from my local. It's obviously bagged and not sealed in tins.

Lids on factory sealed tins rarely crap out - sealed tins are good for many years; once you open them either smoke it in a few weeks to a month or put it right into a Mason jar.
My cellar is not a good measure. When the rule was buy five tins you like (one to smoke and four more for the cellar) I bought several hundred of my preferred tins (and bulk). Tobacco was under $5.00/tin and also under government assault; huge tax increases were a given. Mostly virginia blends - good aging qualities - from AC Peterson, Dunhill, Samuel Gawith, Reiner and Esoterica is what I stored betting on much higher prices coming soon. I won't be buying much tobacco over the next 15 or 20 years. Look to euro and Canadian prices to decide how much of what you should cellar. Also look to solid value brands or blends if you buy a lot. Don't buy what lots of people don't want is my advice."We'll talk, if you like. I'll tell you right out, I am a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk."
