This guy's the man, if you ever get a chance to see him.
Hmm... I thought you said it was going to be weird... :)
About nine years ago, I was *this* close to buying a blue & white Silvertone archtop very similar to that from a sadly now defunct business out in Saskatchewan that specialized in classic guitars. But when I finally decided to pull the trigger, Larry the shop owner broke the news to me that a local musician called Little Miss Higgins had just bought it. So that was the bad news. The good news is that I ended up buying another one from him: a 1940s Stewart birdseye maple archtop that is absolutely gorgeous and occasionally makes an appearance in the SOTD threads. :)
This is it in the background here:

The other good news is that while I'm at best an occasional noodler on the guitar, "my" Silvertone ended up in the hands of a real musician who is making beautiful music with it to this day.
So here is the one that got away (the real music starts about 1:00 in)...

Steve Winwood, talented in so many ways.
Today I have Professor Longhair, Rockin Dopsie, and Lee Dorsey + some other stuff, playing on my ultra modern Windows 98 machine in the shop. I have my old computor plugged into an old stereo. I have most of my record and tape collection on that old computer. Windows 98 and WinAmp I do feel old.

It was announced this morning that these fine Gents will be headlining the Ottawa Folk Festival in September, so I've had this in my head all day.

Are you going? Neil is so cool.
I was listening to Led Zep Physical Graffiti disk 2 on the way to work today; inspired by NOVERazor's post.
Tomorrow it's going to be Neil's greatest hits...
Thanks for the posts, guys!

Cheers, Carl! That really makes me miss my record collection. Physical Graffiti and Led Zeppelin III were in continual rotation on my turntable during the high school years. Broke alot of strings and built up my calluses learning those songs on guitar.
I never tire of listening to Canned heat,

This one has to be, to me, one of the best songs from the 80's.
After hearing this I got kinda hooked on this band, which is still out there performing and making great tunes.

I grew up listening to a DJ called "John Peel". Amongst *many* groups he helped become big names were these...

Now here's a classic. Hadn't heard it in years, it was on the radio as I drove into work
Gordon Lightfoot - Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - YouTube
About 1/4 of the way through this one it turned really BAD. The vocals sucked etc. Then I realized it was one of Carl's songs that I had thought I had stopped started playing in the background! :rofl2:
Just giving you a hard time Carl. I liked the Zepplin also but they don't mix.

Mos Def - Im Leaving - YouTube
I used to announce at Florida State's radio station and I had the chance to learn about a lot of different types of music. I personally love "hip hop" but the stuff that is on the radio nowadays is absolute garbage. Mos Def to this day is one of my absolute favorite artists, because his songs are poetry in motion, as I call it. Give it a chance!
Here's a track from one of my very favourite films including the producers of O Brother where art thou, directed by the Cohen Brothers.

Oh, cool, Jane's Addiction. I THOUGHT you were a cool person, Mephisto, and now you've just proved it...
Well, well done...
Is that Flea on bass???
...And now her paints are dry...
I went to see your pictures...
spread them across the floor...
They hold your key and turn your knob,
I'll bet...
...Will you say hello to my ma?
Will you pay a visit to her?
She was an artist, just as you were.
I'd have introduced you to her.
She would take me out on Sundays.
We'd go laughing through the garbage...
...She was unhappy, just as you were.
Unhappy, just as you were.
Unhappy, just as you were.
Unhappy, just as you were...
Of COURSE it's Flea on bass, I don't know what I said 'Is it'; just the way he moves gives it away..
