When I was a kid growing up in Ft. Lauderdale we would go to go to South beach for free concerts. The place was sch a dive it was the only way to get us to go. Now look at it....I saw Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton for free on the beach.

Thanked: 50Hmm, so many memorable concerts..
First real concert was Iron Maiden "The Early Days Tour" in 2004, along with Dragonforce(before they became populair).
Best show ever was Axxis, Gamma Ray and Helloween(Hellish Rock tour) in January 2008, I was in front of Kai Hansen(the metal god) the whole time.
And the most fun ever were the('till now, going next year again for sure) 4 times I went to Wacken Open Air in Germany.

Elvis
In the early sixties I was stationed at Pearl Harbor serving in the Submarine Service. Elvis gave a concert dedicated to the raising of the Arizona Memorial. I had been a fan throuout my high school years, and I just had to go! I was bar hopping at the time and, of course, I forgot about the concert. Luckly, I realized I needed to get to that concert. I jumped in a cab and did make it. Yea, I was a bit hammered, but I did make it. My memories of the concert was not so much his performance, but of how all the women there were absolutely crazy!
Yes, it was the sixties, and I went to many, many concerts. Most of them are just a blur. Hey, it was the sixties, but I'll never forget the Elvis concert and all those women.

I grew up in west Broward in the '80s and '90s. As soon as I turned 16 we'd hit up the all-ages shows down on South Beach, Coconut Grove and downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
I remember a club called the Edge, which I think got renamed to the Chili Pepper, where I went to dozens of Marilyn Manson and Jack Off Jill shows when they drew comparatively small crowds. There was also this awesome metal band called Amboog·A·Lard who usually played with them. The local rock station, 94.9 Zeta, had an annual festival where I saw Faith No More, Saigon Kick, and a bunch of other fun bands.
Good times. Now I live in Gainesville and we have a huge punk rock music festival coming up on Halloween weekend. Should be an absolute blast.

Whew! Flashback city... Over 100 Grateful Dead shows, all amazing experiences. Neil Young rocks forever; Talking Heads; McCoy Tyner (piano player for years with John Coltrane); Pharoah Sanders; Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers; Carmen McCray and Betty Carter together; A nod to loud goes to Emerson Lake and Palmer early to mid '70s Spectrum Philly; Los Angeles Phil playing John Adams conducted by the composer; Ojai music festival 2010 classical works by Frank Zappa. I recall someone mentioned Steve Vai, my wife and I had dinner with and concert seating with Steve Vai, Gail Zappa and Ian Underwood at the Ojai festival; it's all coming back to me: Tom Petty; Springstein; Jackson Browne all in Tucson; Ray Charles and the Rayettes in Laramie Wyoming of all places; Steel Pulse, Taj Mahal... Honestly one of the very finest was Ravi Shankar at Carnegie Hall playing with his daughter Anushka on Ravi's 80th birthday @ 10 years ago.

Concerts
Rolling Stones at Memorial Auditorium Sacramento, Ca. May 1965. 45 years gone by and they are still THE rock and roll band IMO.

Manowar. Best concert ever. They are also the loudest band ever.
I saw them twice. Both times it was a 2 hour set they played.
They did some of their songs in an acoustic version and the entire hall was quiet for it.
I do admit to wearing industrial earplugs though. I like being able to hear. Even with the plugs in it was LOUD. And the music is just so much better if your chest resonates hard with every drum beat
I pray to the Gods that they stop in Belgium for their next world tour upon release of the new album.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
