I have a tough time paying more than $50 for scotch that evaporates as quickly as Macallan 12 seems to, that's still my favorite but I usually keep some Glenlivet 15 around too for when I'm in the mood for something lighter. I'd like to experiment and try some different ones but hate to roll the dice at 50 bucks a pop and risk getting something I don't like as well as the high value standby Macallan 12.
Blanton's bourbon is right up there too as a damn fine drink but I guess that's for another thread.

Thanked: 346I keep a bottle of Teacher's around at all time, it's not a SMS but it's awfully good. None of my snootier scotches have complained about the neighbor yet.

geez guys... you keep throwing all these tasty treats in front of me and I might have to sell a few razors and go buy a bottle of one of these to whet my whistle ...
... Or.... I could just keep working on that bottle of Pinch I keep as my bar scotch and hope Santa brings me something good for the Holidays

Well, ask about another one of my sources of
. I have tried quite a few and my memory is pretty bad but there are two that come to mind Cardhu and Dalmore both 12 yrs. I even found a fairly inexpensive 10yr old that is pretty enjoyable named Isle of Jura. I dont know if the Cardhu is still being made.

Right now Lagavulin 16 is my favorite.
Yesterday I bought a bottle of Aberlour A'bunadh...at 59.7% that stuff can kick your ass...I used water obviously. It has a very maple syrupy nose to it.

Talk about an old thread! I really like the Glenmorange finished in the sherry casks, but I don't think I could pick a favorite. It's like razors, my favorite changes all the time.

Macallan 18 is always my first choice. Has been for about 15 years. I read a book about single malt scotches and it described Macallan as the Rolls Royce of Scotches. Of course this is the author's opinion. Nonetheless, it is my favorite.
Cheers!
