Question What is your favorite single malt scotch?

Ok you can list your top 3 if you would like. I need a good new bottle, I dont want price to matter...just the best taste and whether its better in small doses or something you could drink whenever you want some good scotch after a hard day.

As of right now my favorites are

    1. Glenrothes 32yr (1972)
    2.Macallan 18yr
    3. Oban 14yr

    1) Ardbeg 10yo (~$50)
    2) Highland Park 18yo (~$80)
    3) Laphroaig 10yo cask strength (~$50)
    4) Glenrothes 29yo (~$240)
    5) Bowmore 17yo (~$65)
    6) Edradour 10yo (~$70)
    7) Talisker 18yo (~$70)
    8) Dalmore 12yo (~$35)

The ardbeg is an incredible malt, and an incredible value to boot. The Highland Park is a little bit better, but much more expensive (~80). It's on a northern island and tastes like a cross between a speyside and an islay. The Glenrothes and Edradour are kind of bourbon-ey, and wonderful malts if your just not in the mood for smoke and iodine. The cask-strength Laphroaig is smoother and mellower than the standard proof versions, and only slightly more expensive. The Dalmore is more of the wife's favorite than mine, but it's a fine malt and also a Highlands like you seem to prefer.

My tastes are simple. My go to scotch (usually keep a case on hand) is Laphroaig. Second is Talisker. Then for guests who prefer a less peaty malt, I keep bottles of McCallan and Glen Morangie.

Changes all the time but current faves are:

    Talisker 10yo
    Highland Park 25yo
    Bruichladdich 10yo

Sippin' a Glenlivet 18 yo as I type.

    Top 3?

The 18 year old MacAllan. After that, it'd have to be 10 year old laiphroig, then 12 year old Macallan.

I've had some mighty fine scotches not on that list, but those three are the top 3 I'd cough up money to buy full bottles of.

Glen Morangie for me. Glen Fiddich second. Haven't had either for a few years. Cash flow problem. Food, housing, clothing all seem to have the priority.

I'm partial to Lagavulin (sadly no longer made) or Laphroig. Of course I wouldn't turn down a bottle of Macallan either.

There's some great names coming out here. I'm happy with many good single malts, but I've got a soft spot for Craganmore.
