Trouble with buying my first Rolex is I am already wondering how I can afford an Explorer to add to the collection. More RAD!

Guy on this site, SRP member, "Donut", if you go back a dozen or so pages, most of his pics are gone, but wow, what a collection, Rolex, Patek, AP, Lange, just a spectacular collection, said in one post, "Razors are like the "gateway" drug to watches!!".
How true, razors can be a wormhole, but nothing compared to watches.
I had wanted the Daytona for 25 years plus, finally got one, and wanted I wanted to be a, "one watch guy", yea, like razors that didn't work out too well LOL.
I've stopped myself at 3 Rolex, but wouldn't be hard to dive deep into the watch pit......

Congrats on the Daytona. Aspirational watch for a lot of guys. What color is yours? That's funny about razors leading to watches to ... So true.

Here is the result of my travels through the wormhole....turns out, there's all kinds of RAD (Razor Acquisition Disorder).....in this case guess it would be WAD!!!
I specifically wanted the non-ceramic version of the Daytona, personally, not a fan of the ceramics and 6 digit maxi-cases on the newer models.
Love your Air-King by the way, classic watch, perfect size and a tank, go diving to 330 feet, wear it anywhere anytime. Found a video of a guy who froze his Rolex, then tossed the chunk of ice with the watch in the ice into a bucket of boiling water, watch didn't even blink....:-)

Wow, your watches are absolutely stunning. Well done. I would have trouble deciding which one to wear.

Thanked: 4206Those are all great pieces phrank, and tbh if I ever do pull the trigger on a Rolex, it’d be the green sub.. just like the lines of that series, and greens my colour.

The green Rolex Submariner is called, "The Hulk", and it's a real beauty, you have to see one in the real to get the depth of colour it has.
Personally, I'm more a fan of the 5 series version than the 6 digit ceramic with the maxi-case, the 5 digit in my opinion has far more elegant and classic lines.

Thanked: 42065 digit vs 6 digit,, serial numbers you mean?
Hulk, not meaning the dial’s huge though right.

4 digit covers early years, 5 digit up to 2008 I believe, then you get into the 6 digit series. The 6 digit Submariners, GMT's all have the "maxi-case" and ceramic bezels I believe, while the 5 digit have the aluminum bezels and the sleeker case and lug design, which many like myself prefer over the newer models, but each to their own.
My Daytona is a 6 digit, and the Submariner, the blue one is nicknamed, "The Bluesy" and the Day-Date are both 5 digit references.
"The Hulk" is the nickname for the green one, after the comic book character, there's also the, "Batman" and a few other nicknames.
The $16,000,000 USD Rolex Daytona is referred to as the Paul Newman Daytona, and the dial style it had is called the Paul Newman dial.
It's called, "The Hulk" because it's G R E E N!!!! Argghhhh!!!! LOLLast edited by Phrank; 03-21-2020 at 02:59 PM.
