The boy and I picked up two new additions to the family at the last gun show. For my EDC a S&W M&P 40 Shield, and for the back up and toy for the kid, a Beretta 92 SF. Both are sweet little girls with a nice bite. The best part! I got both from the same Diller for a package price of $750.00 that's about $175.00 off on each. Made me smile!.

Hmmmm, not really too much into firearms and that is weird me being a LEO. I have personal a Mossberg 12 gauge from my youth; Colt AR-15 .223 LEO model issue; Ruger GP100 .357; and a Ruger LCP .380. I have had a few others over the years but not too many.

So far, this is my only firearm. I figure there is no need for a CCW permit yet.

I'd say go with the Remington. I have the 700 PSS in .308 with a Leupold 6X14 on it & it is scary accurate with hand loaded ammunition.

For a hunting rifle I don't think it matters much which in stock factory form and if you accurize them with bedding and what not it is still the same. I think the Winchester model 70 pre 64 and current model series may have an edge as a hunting rifle with a better extractor and a one piece bolt body. All you have to do is Google to find out any number of complaints about Remintong bolt handles being busted off from one form of abuse or another because they are brazed on. There are similar stories about extractor failures.
