As a general rule I have never been a fan of Ruger Firearms. I have never cared for plastic on pistols, striker fired trigger actions, pocket autos and the 9 MM cartridge. Today I bought a Ruger LC9 to replace my Colt Agent revolver which I carried as a backup weapon since the 1970's. It is flater, shorter, smaller, has 8 rounds instead of the six of my colt. It has better sights and trigger and fits my hand perfectly. Yes even an old dog llike myself can change and learn new tricks. Anyone looking for a replacement for the snub nose .38 revolver would do well to look at this pistol. Loaded with Corbon or Hornady'[s best ammo it is an excellent choice in my opinion.

Nice, I just read some reviews of the LC9 might have to go check one out. I've been lugging around a P85 MKII for about 15 years or so, maybe it's time to upgrade. I know what you mean about plastic on pistols, one of the first things I did was replace the plastic grip with a Hogue grip, much more comfortable to shoot with. Hope you enjoy it and please give us more feedback after it's been to the range a few times.

I carried a S&W Stainless .38 Chief special on my ankle as a "back up" for 25 years. Being on my ankle near the ground all the time in all types of weather it picked up lots of dust, dirt and grime. I cleaned it on monthly basis but knew it would work no matter how dirty it became. As it was a back-up it always had to work, always. I thought if it was placed into service, something really bad happened and I needed to know no matter what, it would function. Although I carried an auto as a service weapon for 15 years, I could not say that is would ALWAYS function.
I don't know what you meant by "backup weapon." I needed mine only twice in 25 years. I was happy to have a gun I knew would function.

I know many folks rely on Auto's as I did. I just liked the feeling of having a second choice in a pinch.

I use a .32 hollow point in a Keltec... Small and thin, plus light enough to wear on a knife clip. Great when wearing shorts.

I'm usually packing a Kahr P380 these days though I have other alternatives if my mood dictates. Always have one or another on me or within arm's reach. Heckuva world, I remember when we didn't have to lock our doors.

I used to carry an auto 380, but one night while hunting I decided to shoot off a couple; it failed to fire. I realized then that my 38 special was going back to being my carry. Revolvers rule when it comes to reliability.

Well all the rugers Ive ever shot didnt have a single bit of plastic. Dunno which ones youve shot but they generally have more steel than any other gun manufactoerer thats modern. Try their stainless revolvers or their beautiful 1911s and they have everything not 9 mil. .45 ACP is ana amazing round.

The cell phone and the PDA are replace now for an I-phone.


It now have a Crimson Trace lazer and a Milton Sparks inside the waste band holster.
It goes every where, biking, kayaking, hiking....it also doubles as a backup when carrying the H&K USPC 40.
Its the S&W model 840p ( I think) .357 mag on scandium frame, titanium barrel for a total weight of 12oz unloaded and 16oz with 5 rounds.
It is a mule, shoot little carry a lot.
