The 'modern' Hi Power has some of those modifications. The sights are much more eye friendly and the thumb safety is large and ambidextrous. I have 3 Hi Powers. Two 9mm and one .40 S&W. I disconnected the magazine safety on one of the two 9s and it was like a brand new trigger job. The other two have good triggers with the mag safety in place.

So about as many issues as most 1911s ? I think they're both fine firearms with a little loving. Some day I'll have the money for a good Hi Power and 1911. I swear I've seen a photo or two of Prince Harry carrying a Hi Power.

Every night I sleep with an M4 under the bed, mag in safety on chamber empty, and am in the process of getting my CCW and a 1911. I know an M4 isn't the best for home defense but it's the best I have right now and it gets the job done. I'm afraid I cannot argue with a single thing that has been said about my generation. As a whole we are going downhill and I am ashamed to be part of it. Are all kids low-lifes and criminals , no they're not but enough are to ruin things for everyone. As for gun control, it works great...at taking guns from law abiding citizens. AUS actually has seen an increase in not only violent crime but also gun crime since they passed their ban. Bharner had it right, we need to get guns off the street and away from the criminals. As for EDC I carry a couple knives until I can get my permit. Before I felt uneasy but after a two mugging attempts in under a year I feel absolutely unsafe.

Bharner check out the SIG and the Desert Eagle 1911's. They're both fairly affordable (for a 1911) and come with the features and quality of a much more expensive gun. I'm personally saving for the SIG 1911 traditional stainless compact.

Excellent. I'll tell my local FFL to keep his eyes open for any Canadian Hi Power imports. If they come available I'll think of you when I buy two .

If they get sold to the US, I'll find a way to reimport one back and then send photos of it to the Liberal party headquarters

So I thought I'd post a couple pics of two of my favorites. It also appears I haven't given them some cleaning love in a while...

Whe I started this thread I did not intend to bad mouth Ruger firearms. It is just that a firearms is foremost a weapon in my mind. Between Brother in Laws, nephews, cousins and uncles there are probably 25 of the 10/22 rifles in my family. I know of one owner of a premier shooting school who uses a Ruger bolt action, 308 with a 20 inch barrel and a 4 power fixed scope as his "Utility Rifle". The single action revolvers are fantastic and people tell me that the new Ruger 1911sr is the greatest value going in a 1911. The Redhawk would make a good wilderness companion for the outdoorsman. By the way the divorce is complete on the old Colt Agent and I am engaged to the Ruger LC9. The Bible says that a man who does not own a sword, let him sell it and buy one. Happy shooting and be safe out there.

My first handgun ever: the Springfield XD 45.

My first AR15. Stag arms lefty version. Messy trunk of my car after a long day of desert-shooting in Arizona

Machine gun shoot in AZ. Got to shoot a BUNCH of full auto guns. Mp5, m16, ak47 and a belt fed 1919. All for free.

And finally me shooting a glock 19 that I rented at the range while visiting FL two years ago. Definitely in need of a shave.

I bought a Ruger 10/22 in December of 1970. It has a new barrel and stock now, and it has always been a great small game rifle. Probably more than 100,000 rounds through this receiver over the years.

Most of the kids and grand-kids learned to shoot a rifle with this 10/22 or one like it that I bought for their birthdays. Easily the most used Ruger that I own.

Majority of the carry handguns are also Rugers. Definitely a Ruger fan here.

The ruger 10/22 is a legendary rifle. More kids have learned to shoot on that platform than any other, I think.
The ruger 22 handgun series is also great. The ruger single six(.22lr) was the first handgun I ever shot.
