I live in Firearms HELL...California. I haven't even tried for a carry permit, although I'm in a county now that might allow it. I can't buy a Ruger LCP, even though i was drooling over them as soon as i saw one in guns and ammo. And now with George Zimmerman, and the tragedy today in Colorado, I fear soon California will not allow me to own a flint lock rifle. Sigh....

Win. Mod. 12, Cyl. bore, unplugged, with five of these in the mag.Makes a real mess of the human body.
Model 12 was/is a great shotgun. I've got this model 1897 takedown riot with 20" cylinder bore. I've always been leery of coming home to someone who could get to it so it stays locked up.

Shirley… you jest. “Not a Ruger fan?”

Have you forgotten the Mini 14, the 10/22 and the 22. Cal. Bull Barreled MKIII? Accurate as a Colt Woodsman and Hi Standard Victor at a fraction of the price & great balance. Just to mention three icons in Ruger's vast lineup.

    Glad you saw the light.

After many years of carring a SW model 60 with a ¾ x 3 ½ in. bull barrel, switched to a tuned stainless SW 3913. That model 60 with custom cocobolo grips and glass smooth action shot like a 4 inch at 25 yards. My son carries it now, loved that gun.

If I can pry it away from him for a few minutes, I will post some photos, it is also a great looking gun.

It now have a Crimson Trace lazer and a Milton Sparks inside the waste band holster.
It goes every where, biking, kayaking, hiking....it also doubles as a backup when carrying the H&K USPC 40.
Its the S&W model 840p ( I think) .357 mag on scandium frame, titanium barrel for a total weight of 12oz unloaded and 16oz with 5 rounds.
It is a mule, shoot little carry a lot.
First rule on a gun fight. Have a gun

I'm sorry, I don't agree. I don't think anyone is lucky here. That was an unfortunate event, yes. But having a firearm to "protect" yourself, I fear would only have escalated that problem during that fateful evening.

I understand "different strokes for different folks", but I don't agree that personal firearms "solve" any problems.

    Very nice Double O

It's clean, unobtrusive, exactly what you need when you need it.

Well they sure solved the "bums throwing Molotovs at his house problem" for Ian Thomson

I'll confess to being somewhat of a Ruger fanboy. I have Blackhawks in both .357 mag and .41 mag. I have both a Ruger MKI and MKIII and a couple of 10/22s. I never thought I'd buy one of their plastic guns until this fall when I found an LCP $250. After polishing the feed ramps, painting the front site bright yellow and swapping the recoil springs for some heavier ones I'm quite pleased with it.
I'm not a huge fan of the .380 though. If I ever get the chance to swap it for an LCR, shield, J frame, etc I'd do it in a heartbeat.
That being said I like my M&P 9c but it's still rather chunky.

I agree, the right to carry crowd has a thought process that dictates they will come out on top in some sort of faceoff with another who is armed, the reality I feel is that you now have a 50/50 chance of being killed.
