Thanks for the response Scott and Double O, I see your point of view maybe America does have a lot more criminals and some bad ass guys walking around with guns and that's why the good guy needs his firearms, but thankfully It's not that way in the UK and Europe, and to hear about someone who's been shot and killed in my country of Wales in the UK is a very rare event indeed, and my country as a population of three million, and Europe as a population of 739 million, so I would be asking big questions as to why America as got such a high murder and crime rate with guns.?

Yea, my brotherinlaw just got robbed... A crew drove by the house in a ddelivery truck and took burglar tool and popped the front lock to the house out and cleaned the house out.. If anyone had been home, it could have been a more serious issue.. I am all for being able to defend your home from these criminals.. People who say we don't need guns also don't have MI13 punks busting their doors in.. Nothing says "no"like a 12 guage to the melon..

Thanked: 79Hi Jamie,
Thanks for the straightforward post. Riding to hounds has always fascinated me, but I suppose as a tradition, it's also going the way of the dodo :-(.
Please know that even though I'm one of these crazy, gun-toting Americans, I hear you and agree that in a truly civilized society, there would be no need for interpersonal violence, and therefore no need for defensive weapons. I don't know about the UK, but Sadly, I can tell you that our society here in the US is only partially civilized, and in certain areas contains elements that will kill you just as soon as look at you. Over here, owning, training with and carrying a gun for defensive purposes is definitely not a bad idea ;-)

Thanked: 79I haven't done this drill, but it makes a lot of practical sense, especially if you work it from the holster. It'd be interesting to try it first with getting on the sights, and then just point-shooting!

Thanks for the reply, I'm thinking you would love to watch a pack of hounds hunting, wonderful dogs, where I live in Wales in the UK the terrain is quite rough and mountainous, so hound packs are hunted on foot where this applies, in the low lands on horseback, I've watch and hunted with many hound packs a friend of mine and farmer owns a foot pack of Welsh fox hounds, also known as shooting packs, where they are driven through large wooded and forestry area's and the guns are strategically placed on the edge of the woods ready to dispatch the fox.

Personal Firearms
My edc is either a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 or more often a Kahr CW-9.
My favorite is my Springfield XDm 3.8 9mm. It came with Trijicon sights, two 19 round mags, holster, mag holder, speed loader, locks etc. I'm into rifles more than pistols, though. I absolutely love lever actions, Winchester 94's, and my Henry Big Boy 45 is a sweet gun also.

Thanked: 1936Just ordered a set of Trijicon's for my new 1911, Springfield Champion. Silly why I can't just send my slide to Trijicon to have it all done at one stop. I called them and I have to either pay their MSRP or order at a discounted price from a dealer. Then I have to send my slide with the sights to them for installation. Once I get it back I will check it's reliability...looks promising.
