Personal Firearms
I really like Trijicon sights, I have no trouble seeing them, even with my bad eyesight. It's comforting to see them glowing when I look at my bedside table at night.

quite correct, they banned handguns in the uk after dunblane as a knee jerk reaction, two years after the ban gun crime had gone up by 40% it rose to 65% within 6 years.
all the ban did was take away guns from the good guys and destroy there sport.
i am lucky enough to live on the isle of man and part of the british isles but not the uk,we have our own laws and are allowed handguns for target shooting only,i shoot a lot whether it be target or hunting i dont mind,i have handguns rifles and shotguns and could not imadgine not owning them

Wow, after reading through this excellent thread, I hope to add a few helpful points for some of the posts here. First of all, one thing that a lot of people don't seem to realize is that the most of those who are irresponsible with guns and do stupid things with them are criminals to begin with. Most of those who carry and/or become interested will actively seek training of perhaps a less formal nature, but training nonetheless, whether there's a law that says they have to or not. I reinforce the point that putting more guns in the hands of law abiding Citizens does NOT "put more guns on the street". It puts them EXACTLY where they belong the most.
Those having a bit of trouble with their .380's should try Remington Golden Saber JHP. They seem to feed well in even the most cantankerous .380's I've ever tried, and if it won't feed those, it probably won't feed anything else.
Speaking of ammo, it was mentioned that carrying reloads might give a lawyer a chance to demonize you in court. It was mentioned by the same person that he has "talons" for all his guns. Now, as far as I'm concerned, Black Talons were never more than just the first 9mm hollowpoint that actually had reliable expansion. Coupled with the AIDS scare, the subway shooting by Colin Ferguson and typical media misinformation (calling them "cop-killer" bullets and implying that they could penetrate "bullet-proof" vests, when in fact, no hollow-point can really do that, by definition, and certainly not in 9mm.), Winchester took them off the market (sort of - they just did away with the molycoat and renamed them Ranger SXT's) in a seeming cave-in to public pressure, which gave rise to the rumor that they are now illegal. I think they're just fine, even though there may be some better choices now, but I question whether the stigma surrounding Black Talons would play any better in court than carrying reloads? I think the "reload" argument would depend somewhat on the specs.
Nothing drives me nuts more than 25 yd targets at pistol ranges. That's fine for target pistols, but a defensive gun is just that, and you probably don't need to shoot somebody who is still 75 feet away.
Speaking of defensive shooting, if your groups are nice and tight, then you're either not shooting fast enough, not moving fast enough, and/or not using cover effectively! Ever hear of the Tueller Drill? It's fun, try it.
Most men who weigh at least 175 lbs or so who think they can't carry .45 ACP comfortably but would like to, need to try a good Kimber 3" Ultra in a Crossbreed holster. Turned mine into an EDC, and I've got a 35" waist with just XL T-shirts tucked in. Anybody bigger than me should have NO problem! When I first got the holster, I went to a restaurant and three department stores with close family members over three days and nobody noticed. Pricey, but so worth it.
Wow, I thought I was the only one who loved the Ruger P89DC, except for maybe Colin Ferguson... Personally, I find it to be a more rugged and reliable pistol than the military Beretta M-9, for about half the price. Same story here, really. Got mine in '92, it was my first pistol, I STILL have it, and put thousands of rounds through it. Used it to teach my wife, and now she wants her own 9mm collection - to include a freekin' UZI... (she originally said she didn't think she could shoot somebody, even if her life depended on it and was worried about pass-thru and stray bullets and all kinds of hand-wringing B.S. that nobody in a real life or death home invasion has any business wasting thought on. She's come a LONG way!)

Gents, let's keep the finer things forum free from politics and debate, and focused just on 'finer things'.

Now I have very limited experience with handguns, but I liked the Smith and Wesson .45 pistol.
Sorry I can't be too specific about the exact model. It's a long time ago, and I was a layman anyway.
I liked the heft in my hand and the nice 'whump' it made.
The recoil was much gentler than the .357 revolver with the 7" (something like that) barrel.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Being in law enforcement, I have had many firemens. Just a few weeks Ago i decided to go out and purchase a new off duty gun. Presently I was carrying the Kahr k9. Well had nothing but headaches with that gun sent back to Kahr numerous times, still never was right. And this year the nypd no longer authorizes there members to carry Kahr firearms as back ups anymore. So I looked around in the market for a nice small pocket pistol that was easily concealable. After a lot of research I wound up with the beretta nano 9mm. All I can say is what a fantastic firearm small reliable and just built well.. If ur looking for a personal gun check this bad boy out..
