Objects/ Items that changed you life
Hi guys,
I thought I'll start a thread on list of objects/ items that changed the way we lead our life or our perspective on things and how it affect us.
I'll start first:
1. Macbook/ osX: I first started using a macbook in 2007 and since then I can't imagine myself using another PC/ Window based PC again nor do I want to. Even using mouse as opposed to using macbook trackpad feels awkward nowadays!
2. Mechanical watch: First introduced to a mechanical watch by my brother a couple of years back and haven't look back since. The ritual of winding the watch, looking at the sweeping sec hand and the ticking of the movement gives a certain assurance. I wouldn't have it any other way nowadays.
3. Fountain pen: When my wife gave me a Montblanc fountain pen for my birthday, it's a daily object that I carry and I never use another type of pen since. I keep losing and misplaced my pen almost every other day before, but haven't had that problem since then too.
4. Ray Ban & Persol sunglasses: Ray Ban is my first sunglasses and I also have 714 Persol. There's something about the glass lens which in my opinion have a higher quality compared the the plastic lens...
5. Straight shaver/ shaving soap: I only started shaving with straight razor and shaving soap for about a month and half, but I don't think I'm gonna go back to disposable razors and canned shaving cream ever!
Please share objects that affect the way you lead your life. I would love to hear it.

Thanked: 993I think this has the potential to be a really cool thread.
Well, straight shaving for sure, but aside from that:
1) Cable TV: .....actually, disconnecting it. What a difference in A) productivity, and B) the amount I read on a daily basis.
2) My drum sets: I understand that time is rigid, but any drummer on this forum will attest to the feeling that when you're jamming with a band or even just solo on the kit, when you get into the "pocket", you can move time. Based on the groove, I can push it, slow it down, and based on the complexity of the fill, it can almost stand still. Sounds crazy....I know. Drummers get it though. The drums in my teenage years provided a much needed release from too much family, and added a bit of rebellion at the same time.

I hesitate to call them "objects/items" but domesticated animals, cows/oxen in particular have contributed more to my lifestyle than anything else that I can think of at the moment.
Without them we may still exist. But without them farmers wouldn't be able to have started the lifestyle that most of us enjoy.
