Thanked: 88Nothing wrong with that approach, but my basic regular cab W/T with an 8-foot bed and the 4.8 only ran 23K at the end of the year. It's not a Hemi or a Cummins, but it gets 20 on the highway and doesn't break down. Just another option...

Thanked: 13246I was working for Ford from 2002-2012 so I saw the 7.3L leave and the 6.0L and 6.4L and the 6.7L come in, probably the best out of all of them was the 7.3 it was a very low maintenace engine.. The info we got was that it could not be made to meet the new polution requirements so Ford started searching for something new.. The 6.0L was a great engine for 80% of the trucks they are in, the good ones were great, they got the best mileage and the power was crazy.. They could never get rid of the stigma of the 20% so they searched again the 6.4L was a failure and the 6.7 does everything right but the Maintenance requirements are over the top IMO..
If you have a Good 6.0L I would keep that baby as long as possible

Meet "old blue". 95 Taco. I sometimes wish for a full sized truck. But when my "RV" gets to camp often the camper comes off and 'blue has to become a "jeep" for use in getting far up fire roads etc. for hunting. 278,000 miles on the original engine. V6 hauls my 1500# camper up mountain passes (slowly sometimes) and has hauled home a ton (literally!) of wood pellets at a time on various occasions. Yes, it's had extensive suspension mods.
I hope the pic u/l ok. Thanks for reading,
John

I have lots of memories related to my old truck over the years.
I have changed many starters. Napa I am sure is frustrated with the lifetime warranty for them. [And the track bar for the front suspension.] We went on vacation to Alabama for Christmas and I got a new one less than a week before. The selinoid was not making good contact. As I lay under the truck in the parking lot for the Fort Morgan Ferry my daughter yells at me look at the Dolphins.
I am the only person I have heard of that missed a day at work because my truck WOULDN'T shut off! I pulled into my parking space at work, turned off the key and locked the door. I stopped in my tracks and turned around because it was still running. I went inside and explained it to my boss. I had plenty of fuel to let it run all day but the power steering pump was leaking and I didn't wan't that to run empty. I had been filling it every 4 days or so. He has a good attitude and said "Go deal with it." I drove back home because I didn't want to get it shut off there and not be able to get it back running. It was about lunchtime when I had it figured out and trusting it. It was the previously mentioned fuel shutoff selinoid. I gave the boss a call back and he said I might as well take the rest of the day as a vacation day!
I am starting to think that me and selinoids don't get along.
