Hang tough! I've got one of these front bumpers on the way to replace the Westin grille guard that SWMBO wrecked!

Just have to imagine a classy, iconic second-gen Dodge Ram behind it instead of the GMC oversized car with the ghetto-pimp-grille in the pic...

Here in NZ Diesel is generally cheaper.

    Roughly....
    Petrol - $2.10 / litre
    Diesel - $1.50 / litre + $48 / 1000 km road user charges

Doing OK with my diesel truck

Must track down some pics of my previous "toys"

The photo is seven years old, and it's now done 340 thousand Ks but it's still reliable. The back doors are currently tied together with rope as one of the door locks doesn't work...

I was just telling my daughter the other day that if I got a pickup again, I'd like to get a real pickup. Something early or pre 70's. Then I told her of the ease of cleaning, open the doors, remove any floormats and squirt out the dirt with a garden hose. Wipe off the all steel dash, that has enough room to put half your office along with a couple cheap burritos near the windshield to warm up for later. Manual tranny, a must. I remember driving such rigs feeding cattle, you put it in granny gear, once it's rolling, get out, get in the back and start busting the hay bales into big wafers to kick out the back. Just a simple, basic vehicle, that's what I want. But, I must have one luxury, AC. I've sweat out enough summers here to do it any more, call me a wussy, but it sucks around here from May to October.

When I was growing up at home my dad had a 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72 Chevy 1-ton flat bed that I would do the same with. That old truck was pieced together from several donor's. It had the floorboard a/c unit, so if you had a third person riding along, their knees were bunched up. He still has that old truck, restored it about 15 years ago.

Sounds like you need a Toyota Landcruiser Workmate...

Or maybe something a little older in styling and more farm like, and with a decent five poster Bullbar attached to the front of it!

I run 2 vehicles. One is a 95 Toyota single cab regular bed 2WD with a 22RE in it with 210,000 miles. I did some sheetrock work for my MIL and she gave me the truck. I have done all my own mechanic work to it except for the rebuild on the transmission (automatic). No one on planet earth would sell me the kit to rebuild it. Said "dealer only item".... It was 1400 to get done, but that is all I have spent on ol girl other than batteries and oil changes. The other vehicle I have is a 1986 Isuzu Trooper 2 2 door. It is a 4 cyl. 4WD Ute. 31X10X50 tires and floor mounted lockout. It is neat and easy to work on. I have done all the work on it too. Good to haul the kids around in. It is often requested as transportation when we go out in town.
