And it's HERE!!!
Got a few things to do yet, like the fog lights and a winch, but I really don't need a winch right away, anyway. I've got time to find a good price on one. Oh yeah, the clearcoat is peeling now, too, thanks to too many years next to the ocean. Right now, of course, the only thing on the truck that's clean is the new bumper. I'm extremely pleased. Front 2" receiver, 4" factory fog light buckets (I'm getting halo/projector upgraded), all based on a 4" pipe bumper and a 3" bull bar. It's got big slotted holes down there to take any winch mount from 10"x2.5"-6.5" There are also some 2.5"x6" rectangular air scoops on either side of the winch box.
One time I got cut off by an 18-wheeler heading into a tunnel and forced into some road construction. My old Westin grille guard was barely 2" construction and deflected about 6 weighted traffic barrels off into the water at about 70MPH with not much more than a rub on the powdercoat. Doesn't mean it's "SWMBO-proof", but this bumper is WAY more heavy duty, and bolts directly to the frame, doing away with the factory bumper brackets. Almost makes me want to go hit something...
Tell you what, it was a real trick holding this bumper up with one hand so I could stab a bolt in with the other...

Thanked: 983Wait a minute. Did you just call that (slightly heavy duty) 'nudgebar' a 'Bullbar'? No! I think you need to look at a previous picture or two in my last posts to find out what a Bullbar looks like .
Mick
P.S. Looking good mate. Love it. Be better with the spotties and a winch of course.

Thanked: 983I hope they don't actually catch too many cows up your way them. I would hope that they would get bowled over and ploughed under with a bar design like that rather than scooped up and put in your lap via the windscreen. But your right of course. That second one is overboard and meant to be that way for what we cal "Ute" shows in our country. That particular ute was entered into the 'Feral' catagory by it's owner.

Thanked: 983Just thought I had better clarify what I wrote, as quoted above by 32t. The 'Ute' is the type of vehicle. What the Americans usually refer to as 'Truck'. However, a ute is only a ute, if it has the rear tray/tub at the back, seperate from the passenger cabin and not intended for anything but casual passenger use while holding down a load or if all the passenger seats in the cab are in use by more important people than yourself. Or possibly you could be out shooting, in which case the loser is the one doing the driving while you and a mate or two are having a blast (quite literally) in the back. It doesn't matter if you put some sort of tonneau cover or raised roof over the top of the tray/tub (unless you want to do some shooting). It's still a ute. What I wrote above sounds a little like the Bullbar is a type of ute, which it is not. A bullbar is for laying low wildlife and pedestrians too low on the IQ scale to be spatially aware of their surroundings. These people can usually be seen crossing roads with their eyes riveted to the dazzle of an i, or smart, phone screen. Unfortunately the salesperson never told this pedestrian that the smartphone is not so smart that it can advise the user to look before crossing a road. This is usually when a bullbar comes in handy. It keeps other pedestrians on their toes and off the bonnet of your vehicle.

Thanked: 983Yes of course Carl, but at the moment we're talking about the front of the ute, not the back. You chase 'em, bowl 'em off their feet (and straight under the wheels if you're going too fast) with the bullbar, git out, chunk 'em in the back 'n' hop to the love makin' from there. So you see, a bullbar is where you sweep 'em off their feet. Nothing aggressive about that. Of course if some get swept off ther feet by mistake you can always turn a blind eye. You don't have to be lovin' 'em all if you don't want to.
