    ok this might sound retarded, but how did you get the awesome patterns in the steel? almost looks like a wood pattern. I'm guessing it's just what it looks like after cooling but wasn't sure. I mean almost all straights i've seen are mirror shinny, but this is very cool/primal looking

    If you where to manufacture these and get someone to advertise them right, I bet you could make straight razors main stream again

    When the razor is closed, and you look from the corner of your eyes.... looks like a bird in full flight.

    Beautiful razor.

    That's what's called Damascus steel:
    [wiki-quote]The general term "Damascus" refers to metal with a visible grain pattern, sometimes with a texture. Modern Damascus is a lamination of folded steels selected with cosmetic qualities, with grinding and polishing specifically to expose the layers. True Damascus patterns are formed when carbon trace elements form visible swirls in the steel mix. These elements change properties when the steel is work hardened (forged), creating the patterns[/wiki-quote]

    But it's such a labor-intensive job that the price is skyhigh and therefore unreachable for us mortals

    @ Buddel: that's truely a work of art... I'm still drooling a bit having looked at the ppics.

    Gorgeous - put me on the list when you start making customs - you have a bright future ahead of you (even if you only do it as a side job)

    Buddel;

    You do nice work.

    It seems a shame to waste that piece of Damascus pattern welding work after all the time it must have taken to produce it.

    May I suggest you experiment with it and try hammer forging a piece of regular steel around it to form the handle. It might yet produce an interesting result. Please see my (crude) drawing below.

    So agressive yet so elegant at same time. Beautiful indeed! From the modest yet sleek scale to curvy spine leading to the tail. It's exquisite. One can only imagine it's shave I'd die for it's awesome!

    Would definately pick one up from you :Beer:

    Sorry the razor is not longer here to measuring the edge. But I have a photo, where you can see it with a "normal" 5/8 Horstator.

    Default Fantastic blade

    Really good blade. New to this site just wondering how much would a blade like this go for?

    The handle is from ebony and the wedge from rough aluminium.
