Oh, ps, UPD. Definitely didn't discourage me. I asked and you told, that's what I'm wanting. If I wanted lies I'd have asked for them.

Thanked: 20I think the new sketch is much better, I like the scale shape and the fit. The only maybe issue I can see is the wedge. I would be nervous drilling the wedge with the pin placement so close to the edge like that. I just think you need a little more meat on each side of the pin for support. You might be able to get away with it, but I would definitely go for a trial run before I committed to cutting and drilling those holes and find out during mock up that the wedge just cracked at the pin hole...
Overall I like the new sketch much better. Ultimately you should do what you like the best.

I kind of wondered about the pin placement. The circle that I drew is a lot bigger than the actual hole would be though. It's supposed to give me an idea of where the washer would be. However, I will end up extending the wedge end a little bit. I just got lazy/had a report to do, so I didn't redraw it yet. Also, it looks like on the sketch that the scales have a slight "frown/inward bow" on the bottom right under the tang. They aren't supposed to have the bow, its supposed to be mostly straight. I'm still not sure about the pointed pivot end. It is a little bit too much T-I for me. I have time to think about it though! haha.

Thanked: 48I like the new sketch much better and agree with UPD's comments. I also agree with the pointed pivot end being a bit much T-I and think I would prefer a slightly more extended but rounded shape. When the blade is open I prefer there to be a bit of a tail to the scales that gives my fingers something to reference up to and rest against. Not quite as stubby at the pivot I guess you would say.

Thanked: 20I would agree with a rounded pivot end, but I prefer to keep the extension at the pivot minimal. I find that if the pivot end of the scales sticks out to far, it makes stropping feel awkward and difficult. YMMV

Ok, last (hopefully) update tonight before bed. Lengthened the wedge end and changed the shape of the pivot end. I'm ready to get home and get the blade shape transferred over to the steel!! Maybe I can get it cut out Monday! I'm just going to take it to the local machine shop and let them cut out the blanks. I am going to try to get two razors and the knife out of this blank.
Now alb, if you're as interested as Daryl is, I could always cut three blanks..........
