Arrow Why does people think of us as a "weirdos" ?!

    Hello
After I have done my first shave with DE (and a very nice one, even that it isn't as close as I might find)
I really had no problems, went very smooth and nice (even with a very "old" tools)
But I have noticed that many people (even my dad, brother and so on) think of using a DE or a Str8 razor as being very "weird"

I have told my friend that I have done a shave with a new thing today
    What did he ask me?
If it was a Mach-5 (fusuion)
So how does it come to this that only few people these days really appreciate a real good manly shave?
Why every one do what the commercials tell them? even when it cost them more, and give a less shave?

For the most part "unusual" == "wierd", so yeah, DEs and straights are pretty wierd. Fortunately, my family has long since gotten used to me being wierd.

Yeah, allways they look at you like you are "cray" and probably cut yourself all day long, I don't get it

You know, you're answering your own question. People think we're odd becuse they do like everyone else does ... exactly what the advertising tells them.

I'm not bothered by them. I look them stright in the eye and tell them they don't know what they're talking about, whereas I am in a position to know having been on both sides of the fence. Kind of hard for them to argue with that. Sure I show up with the odd nick and that's when they tend to talk about it more, but those cuts have been fewer and fewer.

Here's a thought; the next time you see a family member with a five o'clock shadow ask them why their shaves aren't close enough. "Aren't you disapointed with a substandard shave?"

And then, in the same breath, tell them that there's about 200 other guys, and we all get on the internet and spend about 12 hours a day talking about shaving!!!

    ...weirdo suddenly turns into certifiable!

(...sick, I tell you....we're all sick!!...)

Yeah, most of my friends find it a bit odd, but luckily I have a few who understand. I actually was able to get one to try it out and he is actually pretty intrigued by it. He says as soon as he has some money he was going to get one. I sent him home with my burma brush and some spare shaving soap as he really liked the wet shave. He really liked Toxiks carbon fiber henckels a lot, but he can't afford one right now so he is waiting till the next paycheck or two.

But yes, most of my friends think I'm crazy for wanting to shave with a straight.
