Thanked: 49421st Annual Straight Razor/Wet Shaving Convention
So.....my friend Charlie and I were talking about this and decided that we should have the 1st Convention in Chicago before the end of the year. We will try to get a block of rooms at a discount and a room for vendors as well as a room for presenters and get togethers. The event can be co-sponsored by all the other forums interested as well. I would also love to get Barber Jay from Indiana out to do straight razor shaves for us too.
So....what do you guys think? All recommendations and comments welcome.
Thanks!
Lynn

I probably won't be able to come, as I have no money . But I would be happy to donate my time to help out with any graphic design needed for promotion, i.e. poster, hand outs, and the like. It is what I do. Let me know if you would like samples or something.

Thanked: 0I think Hawaii might be better that time of year, but I think that is a great idea. I would go.

Sounds awesome to me. Maybe have some seminars on honing, shaving technique and restoration. Also maybe set up a question and answer discussion panal with the experts. Let me know when and I'll be there.

I had thought about this in the past but I didn't think there'd be enough interest. This could be awesome! If you're looking for a mostly safe, fairly inexpensive place to stay, I recommend the Essex Inn. This hotel is located on Michigan Avenue by the park. It offers free shuttle service to and from the downtown shopping district (ie-Truefitt & Hill, Macy's, etc.), and is only 1 block away from Buddy Guy's Legends blues bar. Also, the Field Museum and Shedd aquarium are within walking distance across the park. Although I haven't seen their convention rooms, I know that they do exist. I don't think I've ever wanted winter to return so quickly, but I'm getting excited!!

I would love to go and meet some of you guys, but a transatlantic flight would be just that bit too much to justify. Not even a branch of our business is in Chicago, so I can't even engineer an 'important' meeting!
Hope it goes ahead.... I'll be living it vicariously through some of your reports.

Ooh, I'm interested. I have friends and a brother-in-law in Chicago, so I can likely get it past the social chairwoman as well. and of course, there's that important business meeting...

Lynn, will there be a honing demo? I just may have to stop by.
