I'm not to the point where i trust the airline with my straights and a good strop, over the years i'had so much misplaced baggage that i put a DE in every bag, of course now one cannot go in the carry-on today. but the other alternative it to fedex a shaving kit to your destination hotel.
All that to say that 2 or 3 days a month i wind up using a DE but i wish that i did not have too.

Nah, just joking! There's got to be a better option than the Gillettes though. Personally, I go Grizzly Adams when I can't be bothered shaving, which isn't often I must say.

Yes, sorry - lately I've been a bit preoccupied with work and travel, unfortunately. Stressful times...

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a famously hirsute Aussie - well, I guess there's Rolf Harris, but he doesn't have the same "cred" as Grizzly Adams, nor does he have as good a theme tune:

Way to go Ed. As they say done and done. Didn't you explain to him it's not the razor that costs alot it's the blades...

The guys at Badger & Blade recommend a Gillette Trac II as an alternative to a DE. It's a two-bladed cartidge with a fixed head, so you still have some control. I've never tried one myself, but I've thought about it.
