Thanks. It looked eastern bloc, but I just couldn't place it. I've never played with one.

I bet you don't pick up ammo at your local grange supply.

Here is bullwhip I made a few weeks ago. It's six feet long, made out of 120 feet of parachute cord, has a lead shot core (for weight) and is loud as hell when it cracks. Zigged when I should have zagged, ended up with rope burn on the back of my hand and popped myself on the forearm and left a good welt. Can't wait to make another. Maybe move up to leather.

I started playing with a lathe last year when my girlfriend got into spinning yarn. These are some drop spindles I made:

I would need more practice before I try to sell any, but it would clear up some room to make more, if I sell as I go. The only problem is that it takes so long to make one, although I'm getting faster at plaiting. I'm working on an 8 footer right now but I need more para-cord.

Actually! I do have something I helped build. It's crude and it's purpose is to get oneself drunk, but I helped build it, and it has stood up to some pretty harsh conditions.

It's an ice luge stand! We made it so you can put the ice luge block on the plywood, and use the handles to pick up and set the block on the luge stand without much problem. It's also at a decent height so you don't have to kneel to do the shot, angled so the shot flies down the luge, and the pourer has somewhere to stand on the back for ease of pouring. It's withstood the last four years of drinking and partying, and is in generally the same working order today, despite spending many many months outside in the PA weather.

That's me standing next to it about 4 years ago, so please excuse the corny thumb ring/livestong bracelet/cellphone-on-belt style.

    Great thread.
Apart from countless other things that fill my life, such a straight razor shaving, growing tomatoes, playing chess, smoking cigars, backpacking, etc.. I loose myself mainly in two creative fields. I find it impossible to chose between them. One is woodworking (solid wood mostly) and the other is music recording and production.

The picture is a double interior door I made a while back. I tried uploading a zipped mp3 excerpt from one of the musical projects, but it failed uploading, so here is a link to a myspace profile were you can listen to some of my production work.

That myspace spot is not maintained by myself, so what you may find there may vary, but most stuff is produced and engineered by me.
I've included a panoramic shot of my woodshop as well. It's a bit outdated: I 've made windows for it in the mean time and somehow I managed to stuff a bandsaw in there too.

I love maile! I dabbled a bit myself awhile ago. I was planing to make the equivalent of a t-shirt of maile but didnt want to make my own rings so i ordered some. Long story short i got ripped off and havent made anything im quite some time. Do you turn and cut your rings or buy them? Great job on the glove, those are really tough to get right!
