For this reason, I won't take my very best items on trips (or, God forbid, if I had to live in a college dorm.) Going to NYC for very first time in 2 weeks, so my new Zowada damascus razor stays here at home...as does my handmade damascus-and-black-walnut pocketknife (and all my "carry" guns--danged stupid yankee gun laws!)

YES! Haha, a little extra work pays off.
Good job! This is kind of like getting permission from dad after mom has said no. But I think you're covered. Keep that email.

My point however is a straight razor is still a blade and if misused can be dangerous.I like your wording though. "They arent very deadly". Like there are degrees of deadliness. How dead does someone have to be for it to be deadly?

    2. My razor does have a sharp end, albeit an edge. It isnt pointed like a knife granted, but I try to keep the edge sharp.

    3. The word is spelt 'poor'. And if you cant afford razor blades they will argue that you should grow a beard. Yes, universities can be that pedantic.
Damn me and my black keyboard...

The sharp end on a razor is pretty much not an issue, all you can do with that end you could just as well do with the rest of the edge. Try stabbing yourself and you'll see what I mean. The only thing that spike point could do for you is if you try to slit someones throat in a sweeping motion with only the end touching the neck. Still, same result could be achieved with a round point dovo.

The only way to reliably kill someone with a straight is Sweeney Todd style, slit throat. End of discussion. Anything else is just painful superficial wounds that are easy to stitch up and that heal extremely quick due to the sharp edge of the razor. Sure you could hit a major artery, but it would have to be fairly close to the skin, and the only one of those that aren't normally covered by clothing is the one in your neck. So if you aren't going for the neck, all the major damage you're going to do is going to be on just dumb luck. The small kitchen knife is still going to do more damage, and it would be a whole lot easier to get it done (quick stab to the liver, 30% survival rate if the paramedics get to you in time).

And then we haven't even touched the subject of how fragile the edge on a straight is. Only the cuts you would probably have to do to someone just to get to their neck could quite possibly blunt the edge so much that slicing their neck could turn out to be a quite hard chore.

And shaving is considered a matter of personal hygiene, so if you're allowed to shover, you should be allowed to shave. All the other poor buggers get to shower for free, why wouldn't you be allowed to shave as cheaply as possible?

Also you could add that shaving with a straight is much more environmentally friendly, since you produce almost zero waste (except water of course)

And if you wonder, no, I'm not a horrible person how likes to think about hurting people, I just have a very nasty and pedantic mind...

    First off Penn State Rules....

Now you know the rules about Str8 razors. You can do as others have said and shave in your room. Just be careful and don't let others know about it.

Am I more horrible than you because I spent time thinking of all the non-lethal ways to use a straight against another person? I started typing out a list, but then I was creeping myself out, so I deleted it. Sometimes I think that survivable injuries can be nearly as bad as dying, but thinking about that is a part of my profession.

Good job on getting that all straightened out though. Make sure you keep a copy of that email with your shaving gear.

Ya done good. Congratulations, and enjoy college--it's a great experience.

And that's all I'm going to post on this thread.
