To be pefectly fair. I wouldn't characterize disposable, or 'safety' razors as 'useless' technology. They do have one good quality. You can shave at least 10 times faster with one than you can a straight razor (although it's not nearly as good a shave, quality-wise). I take a good 30 minutes on a straight razor shave (relaxing with the hot towel on my face, sharpening the razor, deciding on an aftershave, etc...), whereas I can shave completly in under 5 minutes, from start to finish, with my Gillette Fusion (which I only use when I am in a hurry).

When I have to do that, I feel like I have missed a major part of the day, but sometimes, it can't be helped, due to lack of planning, Murphy's Law, or whatever. So modern razors do have a legitimate use.

If you're one of those men who get up in just enough time to rush through a morning routine, and dash to work at the last minute, then straight-razor shaving will probably not be your cup of tea. However, if you are of an intellectual, reflective nature, and prefer to be deliberate in your daily preparations, such as relaxing with the morning news, a good breakfast, and be mentally, and physically prepared for the day before you show up for work, then straight-razors can be the best part of your day.

I think most men are somewhere in-between, as circumstances dictate.

If I live long enough to retire and my hand is still steady enough................

I'm not sure that I'll ever relax listening to the morning news. It almost seems that the content of the broadcast is designed just to wind me up.

    Sounded like great advice!
I never shave naked and never will try. There is more than hair down there and its loss would be greater than the tip of your finger.
