Thanked: 326Nicely said! Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't it originally start out at yahoo with 50 or several thousand members and grew from there?
I'm not sure if it was mentioned in one of youtube vids or I may have read it somewhere
Anyway I'm not looking to register at any straight shaving site. What better place to register than a forum where Lynn started it all? Wealth of info and as I said before camaraderie here is second to none and only being here few weeks, for instance I've seen several threads where vets and even some newer guys go to bat for a new comer even go so far as donate razor related items. That is what a community should be about forging bond with fellow straight shavers alike it's brotherhood
It's great because everyone has to start somewhere. We all have trials and tribulations we learn from our mistakes and hopefully guide others in process.
I'm still learning as we speak and hope to apply those learned techniques
Inspite of other forums I've been on I noticed this is one of few where even vets don't claim to "know it all" everyone has sense of humility. That's really rare nowadays in people. To SRP :beer:s
Thank you guys :thumbup:Last edited by SiRed8; 08-13-2009 at 09:09 AM.

Thanked: 10It just feels right to be here.
When I decided to look into straight razor shaving as a daily ritual instead of something to do when I had the time, I found two sites: SRP and another site I won't take the time to mention. I stuck with SRP because of the imense amount of knowledge that the Wiki has for beginners. When I finally decided that straights are for me I realized that people here are more than willing to help out whenever they can, and that has made the learning curve of straight razor shaving a more enjoyable experience. I know it's trial and error for some things, but at least the other members here want to get me started on the right path so I'll be more likely to stick with it. That other site just doesnt even come close to SRP. A big thanks to all of you that take the time to help out. I know it's made the last few months a lot more pleasurable for me. Lynn, thanks for all you've done in regards to straight shaving and this site. The plethora of information inside of you has probably helped more people than you would ever imagine. Cheers SRP!

But you are right Lynn, this is the one true place for innovation when it comes to straights....This is the "Straight Razor Place"
Doc what you and Jimbo Roo said is so true, I know some of you guys on here better than I know the people I see everyday at work... So far everyone of you guys I have met at the NC meet up have been as much a gentleman in person as on this forum.... Now if we can just get Jimbo over on this side of that big pond

Thanked: 1903I'd say there is nothing wrong whatsovever with other forums adapting our knowledge, especially for foreign language forums (if you speak Russian, http://britva.ru/ is a stellar forum, as is the German language http://gut-rasiert.de/).
What annoys me, though, is users who re-use SRP's intellectual property without properly attributing it, cf. Straight Razor Place Wiki:Copyrights - Straight Razor Place Wiki for the Wiki. And I tend to get rather unpleasant when annoyed, or so the few survivors whisper.
But, yes, SRP is the place to be if you love the art of straight razor shaving, and enjoy the company of civilised people.
Regards,
Robin

Thanked: 402Big thanks to you guys from my side as well!
SRP is just the place I was hoping for and working on razors has never been more fun than with this board as a background to it.
Of course sometimes I also feel the need of such great info for other places (in other languages) but stuffing them too much isn't even always welcome, since each place has its own rhythm. So its best to just treat each one individually respectful. Guess people will find out sooner or later.

Shortly after first coming here, after hearing about it on B&B, this soon became my favourite forum. Thanks guys, loving it here. As Lyn says, 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery', but a little credit where credit's due doesn't go amiss.

This statement will always be true. I can't speak for everyone here but I don't post or do anything for personal recognition. My goal is and always has been to help people reach their goal and steer them from misleading information, not just here on SRP but in life in general.
Thanks to Lynn, the mods, super mods, systems support and all members past and present, SRP is the BEST place to learn about straight razor shaving.
As is true in all of life and more prevalent on the internet, there are people who will pass their opinions, beliefs and the ideas of others as proven fact. I believe the recent addition of the Mentor badges to SRP is a good step in the right direction to address these issues. In the end, SRP is THE PLACE for the best information on straight razor shaving and I am proud to me a member and called 'friend' by many of you.
Thank you SRP!!“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)
