I've got it for everything but hones... Brushes - 4, and growing, SC - 6, with more to come, Soaps - 3 (with two empty containers in the trash) and more on the list, Razors - 2 in the rotation, 3 on the "chopping block" (Set out to sell) and 6 in restoration... along with ebay watching, and antique trolling... But I only have a few hones... A barber's hone, and a line of Naniwas (1, 5, and 8, with the 12k coming)

Hones are, from what I've seen, the worst of it, so I'm glad I dodged that bullet (I'm speaking of the Coticule raves, and the Shapton prices, along with the Naturals and their debt-causation)

If I had $10 to blow or $10000000, it would probably mostly be spent on razors, hones, brushes, soaps, aftershaves, strops, mugs, scuttles and anything else shaving related that caught my eye. I'd love to have a shaving supply warehouse that I could just walk into and take my pick, having a different set up for each day of the year. I suppose my money could be going to worse things.

Roflmao, that's very funny;~) I'm right in the middle of a serious case of RAD this very moment. To illustrate clearly what I mean.,a partial list of my current binge This last week I've taken delivery of an Escher, a Thuri Celebrated and Two Combo coti's ,1 ea fake Escher 1 ea fake thuri a 1200 grt and an 8000 grit massive Japanese Waterstones 7 or 8 nice razors including wostenholms , Henckles, Wade and Butch, MJ Higgins. Ect. But hold on I have in transit not 1, not 2 but 4 Filarmonica's enroute. Admittedly only one is the run of the mill standard issue NOS #13 The rest have character. My denial is so deep that I've actually convinced myself that all of this is an investment. After reading your post it struck me that this particular RADS manifestation rather cavalierly disregards both soap and Strops. I've taken to making my own strops and use one of those.
The main focus of my tangent appears to be "Sharpness" The quest for sharp led me to straights, honing and the demons were released. I oggle and drool a tiny bit over brushes( think that means that phase is coming on I just don't see how I'll tansition from a perfectly respectable Penworks 22mm extra stuffung highest grade silvertip for 70.00 to a 300.00 chubby
    or some such.
Ok here it goes. Hi My name is Mike and I have a hone fetish. whew there I admitted it. The say that admitting you have a problem is the first step towards healing, hold on, lets check... nope I'd still do ridiculous and shameful things for another Escher...or two. the question is where is my bottom? I've begun to belive that I have no bottom. I'll end up on the street a 2.00 cheapo chinese hone whore.
Dare I open the pandora's box of Japanese hones, uh oh. SSSHHH by speaking their names you give them power, They know that I'm coming, my precious ^%(% suita.

I just need lots of things to putter with. I have 15 razors in the rotation, a couple strops, and three brushes. Right now I have no razors to restore, and I feel as though I have nothing to do. I like having things to play with and look after.

It's a great weekend when I can spend a bunch of time lapping, honing, stropping, shaving, restoring, etc.

Then after all that, I can play around with my humidor, and humm and haww over which cigar i want to smoke later.....after I sharpen all my kitchen knives.

I have problems sitting still, and my girlfriend knows it, and also understands that are relationship is much better off when I can continue to walk in circles between and around my hobbies.

I'm probably not as bad as most when it comes to AD's, although I do have my share of shaving stuff.

I suppose I never had an AD for strops. I only have my TM and it works quite well so I have no plans to add another. I also don't have an AD for brushes, although I can feel the tide turning on that one....

On a side note do AD's count if you only buy multiple products, or does it also count if you constantly consider such purchases? If the latter is true then we're all screwed!

I didn't get AD at all, even after all those years.
Got a couple of hones, 4 or 5 shavers, 2 strops, 1 brush, 2 aftershaves, 1 soap, 1 cream. I do pick up new blades to restore from time to time. I guess that is what I enjoy most of all

You didn't mention Japanese stones ?
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I suppose I haven't got an AD for strops, brushes or soaps/creams, and not really much of an AD for razors.

My entire collection consists of five razors (4 cutthroats {CT}, 1 DE) that I really only use one CT as my main razor and the DE.
The other razors are used occassionally, or have been assigned to a travel kit.

I have three hones, two of which are double sided and one c12k.

I have three strops, one is my original beginners strop, bought so many years ago, now rarely used. Two are of my own making, and one of those is assigned to the travel kit.

I have three soap/creams but only use one at a time.

Two brushes, one of which is just a cheap, nasty one that I hope to replace one day as this one sheds worse than a mangy dog. One is used regularly, and (the cheap) one is in the travel kit.

I could just as easily get by with two razors, two strops, two brushes, my two creams and three hones. Why two, because I like to keep a travel kit packed with the items I need, rather than trying to remember to pack them at the time. Three hones I think is fairly minimalist too. And I like to be self sufficient so I justify them that way.
But then, just as easily getting by isn't the point of an AD is it!

    Mick
