I like statistics. For every 'statistic' out there, 10 others are there to refute it. Statistics are taken largely by sampling a small section and then "assuming" that it's an accurate reflection of the entire demographic and given an accuracy rating of "plus or minus" so many percentage points.
Maybe they're out there but I've yet to read a statistic that was done on the entire population in question(that I'm aware of).

Here's a couple of statistical tactics that I especially "love".
-Deaths caused by smoking: When a smoker dies of a heart attack or a stroke at the age of 98, it's still marked as a smoking-related death.
-Speed was a factor in X% of car accidents. You can't get into an accident if both cars are standing still. This one allows the governments to scam the public into approving more speed traps and getting raped by legalized highway robbery and the insurance industry which finances a good chunk of speed limit enforcement.
