One might consider some sort of formula based on number of posts and date of registration. From that subtract a value based on the number of times the member has typed LOL.
Good luck to all,

Use Posts per Day Average
If you're interested in rewarding participation, total # of posts doesn't work well. Someone could have joined fairly recently but be very involved.
I suggest you use the posts per day average. This factors in the time a person has been a member.
For example, adjustme69 averages 1.82 posts per day, urleebird has 1.39 per day, garythepenman has 4.61 per day and randydance has 2.61 per day. Why not use a minimum of 1.00 posts per day?
I think is gives all active members a chance regardless of how long they've been a member.

Thanked: 8Tom, this is my second home, if I don't visit at least once a day I get withdrawl symptoms.
The world is a small place with the internet now and all the better for it IMHO.

I think that the initial plan of 400 should stay on the books. I voted for 400. I have only half that number and doubt that I will get to 400 unless I just talk for the heck of it which I don't do well. Besides I have two of Bills razors and we need to spread them around a bit more.
Have a good drawing..................if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.

Ease up on the beer! We're afraid you'll pass out before you make it (like #399)

Thanked: 0Thoughts from a newbie
Bill:
I just lost a well crafted reply because I forgot about the double log-in requirement
The gist of it was:
I don't post a lot because I'm new and have little if anything to contribute. I am very interested however; I lurk about here every day trying to learn what I can.
Getting to the matter at hand:
Creating a reward/incentive plan is very difficult. What's important is your generosity.
My suggestion is to either stick with your original idea or just give it to the person who in your estimation deseres it and then make a post saying why. After all it's your gift.
Best regards,
Bob
P.S.: I just bought 2 razors from pawn shop today. I thought I should get something to practice - and make mistakes - on ( I'm waiting for delivery of a razor from Lynn that I'll actually try and shave with).
I hope when I start pestering everyone with stupid questions in the restoration forum you'll still think 400 is a good number

Thanked: 1as far as teachers go..
I guess thats the problem with being an engineering professor. We say very few words, we just write lots and lots of equations!
