I found SRP by chance and really liked what I found. I'm not sure if I should post this here or if this is where I put my name into the hat as Newbie. I have a razor at Lynn's right now (used razor I bought from IWAN on here) it's getting honed and shave ready. I also purchased a new razor online today. I also got Lynn's DVD awesome tool for a newbie, I have a shave brush and that's it. I'm looking to get a mug, some soaps to try (I have sensitive skin) a strop and a honeing stone. Needless to say as I'm sure you are all aware this stuff is exspensive! My wife is already getting on me about spending money on shave stuff. But, after all my questions and Lynn's DVD my shaves are a lot better now even with my MACH3. I dont have anything to donate at this point but, I think it's a really great idea!

Good Morning, canman
My name is Colleen and I am at least one of the Vendors who will be donating shaving soap. Your mention of Sensitive Skin caught my eye this morning and made me realize it would be a good idea to label the package that the soap is in....either as suitable for sensitive skin....OR NOT ....
In this manner if a Gent receives something marked "not suitable for sensitive skin"....he'll know to pass it on to someone else.....
I appreciate you waking up my brain! "Welcome aboard" by the way!!
XXWarm Regards, Colleen

I've gone on a buying binge the last few days, will have a razor or two to donate if they clean up as well as I hope. I won't have a lot of them for a week or two though.

Hey Guys,
Anyway for a newbie from Hawaii to get his name in the Drawing? I'm using a shavette right now and would love to get a proper straight to get into the honing/shaving game. BTW, genius idea with the newbie thread, learning a lot everyday.

I think the idea of a giveaway is great for newbies such as myself. I have been getting a lot of great help from everybody here at SRP with all of my questions. I want to give special thanks to Lynn, xman, thebigspendur, and mparker762 for responding so promptly to my PMs.
I'd love to get my name in the drawing - as a student on an almost non-existent budget, it would be great to have a chance to try and win some equipment, especially a razor. I'm trying to learn all I can about Straight shaving so I don't make any foolish choices and waste what little money I do have to spend.
Lynn - please keep us informed of the giveaway - you guys are great!

Here are two items that are going to the give away.
The hone is a Shapton 12,000 grit (it is not the Pro Shapton) which comes in its original box. It measures 2 3/4 wide and 8 1/4 long. It has been used some but not very much as I started using Belgian Coticles and Eschers as my finishing hones. It is a very good hone but I like the others better. For free you cannot beat it.
The razor is a "H. Boker 101 Red Injun". The blade is 5/8 and is shave ready. The scales are "Bloodwood" with several coats of polished CA (CyanoAcrylate [super glue}) which is what gives the deep color. The hand made wedge and custom collars and pins are brass.
I will ship these to Lynn in the next day or so and he can put them in with the other items that are to be given away.
ENJOY..................if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.
