Regardless if you get time to forge or not, there will be plenty other people there that are amazing at their respective craft. I personally felt there wasn't enough days in the meet up to soak up a percentage of the knowledge that was gathered there. Between forging, honing, and just talking with and learning from everyone else there is plenty to stay busy. A good attitude (and good booze) can get ya pretty far.

Thanked: 3795It is completely a catch as catch can sort of thing. As Charlie has described it, he unlocks the shop and then his job is done. He relies upon Randy to be the cat herder.
That said, last year was the first bigger gathering. There were several beginners who were pretty much allowed to hog the grinders, which really are the thing that takes most of the time. The forge is small but perfectly adequate for the number of people that will need it, as the grinders really are the limiting factor. When we get closer to the date and get a better head count, we probably can make an attempt to figure out just how many grinders could be brought. I'd rather not bring either of mine, but could bring both if Tim were willing to add another dent or two to his pickup bed.
Basically I'm saying that we should be able to accommodate whatever number of people are coming. A couple of grinders might be able to be set up outside.
Maybe it's time to start of list of who is attending...

Thanked: 480I dont think I have any bourbon, but I have a few dozen cases of wine lazing about. Although some states its a felony for me to even drive it through... But then again, same can be said for any number of other things that might be in the van at any given moment...
Any need for additional anvils? I have a few of those. As long as I dont crash into anything, they are perfectly adequate traction weights.

You are welcome and encouraged to attend. I am not sure how many are showing up, or who is bringing what. I think Ron described the setup very well, it is kind of catch as catch can situation. I will have two 2x72 grinders (mine and Randys's), a forge, an anvil, and two post anvils. Last year Victor and Scott organized the shop layout, wiring grinders and such I hope they are feeling gracious again. We will make the best of what ever we have.
Bruno is going to do a layered steel demonstration, and hopefully do another demo of his grinding methods.
Hopefully Victor will do a demonstration on his grinding set and methods.
If Scott and Victor bring grinders, we might have four grinders. I think there will be another forge also.
I am kind of playing it by ear, and letting it unfold, I really do not have a grasp of what or how many people we will have.
Feel free to bring the anvil if you want, it could come in handy.
Randy is Cat Herder and Chief, I am just the dude with a building, the meet is really a community effort.
Luckily we have a good community razor geeks.

If my pieces get done in time, I will be bringing my forge. I don't think toting a full propane tank in my trunk is the best idea though.
