This year I am going to show how to make small Damascus billets that can be forge welded and drawn out using hand tools.
Scott asked me about it and since it's fun to do, I might as well make a show out of it
Scott's bringing the L6 and I'm bringing the O2 for the billets.

Which reminds me: if you haven't attended yet, it is not unwise to bring personal protective gear.
Everybody does of course what he wants, but from a general health and safety point of view, the following might be handy:

    - safety glasses
    - respirator / dust mask
    - ear plugs or covers
    - clothes that don't burn easily (cotton weave, wool, jeans) with long sleeves.
    - work gloves

Even if you don't care about your ears or your lungs, at least bring safety glasses. Nothing can quite ruin your day like a drop of borax at welding temperature or a metal burr in your eye.

I liked that apron you had,, would have kept a lot of that steel dust out of my overalls. Tc

A good apron is well worth it. I meant to get all of you guys to sign mine on the inside like Bruno did, I'll catch you guys this year! My wife got me mine several years ago as a Christmas present, I was very pleased.

Is leather or waxed canvas better for an apron? I can't seem to find much by way of comparison.

I prefer leather, for the simple reason that this seemed to have been the preference of the old timers. If waxed canvas had been better, they would have used that.

Signatures on the inside from my friends would make it priceless...besides, its not for a welder, but a bladesmith!

I almost cried when I opened it, my wife is the greatest!

Actually, mine was signed on the outside. Not sure why I chose this. Could be I just didn't think about it.
