Yesterday I stopped on the way home and bought two more hammers. Today I turned the 8 lb hammer into a straight peen, put a 'Lewis lever' on my grinder, and did some work on the san mai blank that i brought home from the meet.

I agree with the work and effort but it is within the reach of a majority of people to accomplish it if they persevere.
Once you realize the work put into a custom razor then the prices asked for them is very understandable.
What wasn't mentioned in the last post was having a good teacher, someone willing to share their knowledge. I have found at these meets that that is the greatest benefit.
Whether it is forging, honing, scale making, or brush making the willingness to share knowledge is the most special!
Tim
Did I spell whether right?????
