Thanked: 2209Thanks for making this offer to host a KC Razor Meet !
I would really like to attend another one but I have a problem with the date. The months of July, August and September are much to hot and humid. They also conflict with a lot of peoples vacations.
The best times for Razor Meets are October thru May. Thats after summer vacations, kids are back in school and before the June weddings and graduations.
But, I will help out in any way I can.

Thanked: 2209BTW, my vote is for either October or November.
FWIW, a well attended Straight Razor Meet in this area is, at max, 25 people.Last edited by randydance062449; 07-09-2017 at 06:04 PM.

Thanked: 1We had between 30-40 people last year and just last month in St. Louis we had about 30 or so.... a lot of it just depends on how well the word gets out... I know there has been a lot of people pushing for a Springfield meet up also though

Hey guys! Thanks for all of the feedback.
After some of the discussions i've had offline with some folks who have held meets before, I think the best option is to move the meet to sometime either this fall or next spring for the reasons noted as well as the work effort involved to make it a nice event for everyone coming. A month, as we've seen, also doesn't give a lot of people time to make sure they don't already have other obligations.
All of that said, my wife and I are having a baby boy sometime in the October timeframe... so I'm leaning towards next spring, perhaps April.
This would give some time to get a team of local guys to lend a hand, give me a change to maybe reach out to some vendors to see if they might be either interested in attending or contributing prizes, give people a chance to plan for a specific weekend ahead of time, and the weather won't be quite so stiffing.
Sorry I jumped the gun on this one, I didn't know all the work that was involved when starting the threat. but hopefully that means we can have a great meet early next year!

Thanked: 1If you do it in April you'll be competing with the largest wet shaving meet up out there... Big Shave West... just an FYI... also the maggards meet up and the Chicago meet up are probably two others you wouldn't want to have conflicting schedules with... maggards is in May sometime and Chicago is in June

Thanked: 3795I don't think you jumped the gun, and some meet-ups are not organized at all. You can just announce a date and time and open the door when someone shows up.
Let me know if you'd like to do an informal, no planning, pre-baby (congrats!!!), small scale, practice run, mini-meet-up/worst baby shower ever.

I'd be interested in attending a late summer or early fall meetup if the OP is still considering that option.
Is conflicting with the west coast and Chicago events really a problem? I don't hear much about them here at SRP.
