Thanked: 3795So far, the extent of my prep for this meet-up has been the purchase of two bottles of Knob Creek. I've been busy, but I will start packing up Thursday night (translation: a mad-dash scramble right before Randy picks me up on Friday).
Randy has asked me to bring some coticules. Also, earlier in this thread there was a request for Eschers, so I will bring a few of them too. Does anyone have any other specific requests for hones for me to bring?
I will be bringing my usual microscope/video set-up, as well as another camera and tripod for filming demos. Please let me know if there is anything else I should bring.

Thanked: 3795OK I can bring some representative barber hones--including a Norton!
Regarding tape, if you want to preserve the spine and/or maintain the taped angle, then you are going to have to use tape when using the barber hone. Taping the spine only takes a few seconds. On the other hand, a barber hone can quickly alter the bevel angle from taped to untaped. A barber hone is an "old school" tool so it seems kind of odd to use tape. Basically, do whatever you want. A barber hone is just another tool.

I have one I picked up recently and am incompetent in using, forgot about it until this post.
It was labelled a keen kutter barber's hone, 2 sided, in box. Although the original markings were gouged out. However, the honing surface is practically a mirror...

I am a bit surprised a barber hone would cut that fast. Always thought they were just for touching up an edge.
I probably have an old blade we can experiment on.If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Where did my wife put that hone I got from my uncle? I think it is a Thuri.
Got one from My Great grandpa that I think is a Hidustan. That one is on my desk!
If I can find them I will bring them for your thoughts.
As you can see I am at least thinking about packing.

I'm happy to report that I made it to Racine.
Checked into the hotel early this afternoon and even made it over to Dave and Bonnie's house to meet and spend a little time with them. What great folks.
This is going to be a fantastic time. I can already tell.
I'm excited to be here!

Just got off the phone with Geezer and I realized that my plans were slightly off. I thought he lived a little more south than he does. Oh well if that is the worst mistake that I make I will be happy.
The plan at present will get us to Racine late afternoon.
I got a few things crossed off the Honey Do List tonight and it is time to get packing.
