There is a paint ball field in the area and the range is near by will check this week and see if they rent guns. the Casino is about 45 min away if anyone likes to gamble great fishing in the area but then your talking license also great Hiking and a place that has a decent selection of single malts and live music will check on some more manly endeavors and report back.

    Asheville...
There's an antique car museum (albeit a small one - about 20 old cars and a few horse-drawn carriages, I think) that's free of charge.
There's the Grove Arcade that has a bunch of odd shops and dining options.
    There's the Biltmore Estate. =)
    Uhm... Blue Ridge Parkway.
Flanagan's Irish Pub. You blokes know what a pub is, right?
And I'm sure there's countless other little activities.

    Just tossing ideas.

Perhaps we'll raise a pint There are good ships, and there are wood ships, and ships that sail the sea. But the best ships, are friendships, and may they always be.

    Good Morning Gentlemen!

Simon was good enough to shoot me a PM to inform me of the possible Asheville, NC meet Sounds like fun and I'm hopeful to attend....with hopeful being the key word.

I immediately ruled out flying at a whopping $600.00 for a plane ticket which leaves driving, which is fine....I just don't own the best transportation.....BUT I did discover that I can rent a nice, dependable, car for a WHOLE weekend for under $100.00 the only decision there was to choose to between the compact ladybug car with great gas mileage....this of course is the $100.00 version or the Red Hot sports car.....or maybe the Lincoln Towncar LOL

I'll put my toe to the water, and say I'm in.

I would be all about Asheville! As for things to do, there is the French Broad river for rafting/flyfishing, more than a few microbreweries, a couple of good antique shops (str8 hunting?), the biltmore (though it is expensive), and MANY good restaurants. The last time I was there, Brawley's had about 45 tap handles active and countless bottles!!!!

Hey y'all...haven't been around SRP as much lately, but I caught this thread and would love to meet some of you folks. Clemson is about an hour or so from Asheville, so I'm there if we can get this together.

Asheville is great choice. It's a pretty, artsy kinda place, and there are a lot of old antiques and general store-type places to visit, as well as Biltmore and the mountain scenery. The Grove Park Inn is fairly upscale, but some of you from a further distance away might find that to be a great vacation place to stay.

Ok, so it looks like Ashville, But why not Harrah's, We could stay there and branch out. We need a place for meeting rooms. If not Harrah's, some ones house? Would oyur other mind a bunch of folks with sharp metal objects being around? If we did the house though, maybe we could come up with a Pig Picken. Make a day of it. Just a thought. By the way, I'm in.

for those of you interested in Cigars we have a couple of really nice stores here. there is a guy I believe from Cuba who handrolls in the store really cool to watch. ok So our first gathering will be in Asheville NC now we need to find a date and gather anyone willing to vollenter to contact vender's and try to gather door prizes or raffle stuff also anyone willing to do maybe a class on honing or polish anything really. Harrahs while would be fun would be very expensive and the town of Cherokee dosnt offer much to do other than gamble or the tourist stuff. I think that the first weekend in June might be good. I am working on some locations here in town to hold the gathering. so let me know what you guys think.
