Thanked: 2What a cracking day! I cant believe how fast it went.
I also want to thank all those organisers. Steve, Tony and Sidney Kidney - thanks for putting the time into those presentations. The honing demo was the thing I was most looking forward to but I picked up a few restoration and geneneral shaving tips from the other too!
Appologies for not making it to the pub afterwards - twas my wedding anniversary and I was in enough trouble as it was.
Well I pulled the LE Dovo out of raffle. Just in case your were jelous of the lovley violet wood scales and the sparkly MOP tang I thought I'd rub it in by saying - it shaves great too!
Thanks again to everyone who helped to make this meet happen. I cant wait 'til next year.

I have uploaded 12 images into an album here:
Straight Razor Place Forums - Makar's Album: UK meet Birmingham 2008
They were corrected for rotation before they went on but seem to have reverted back to the original. I'll fix them at some point when I find my brain... Captions are visible when you click on the picture and open it up.
Apologies if I managed not to get anyones name right - and also apologies for not thanking English earlier for his (OK he bullied his wife into it) excellent name badges which will make a nice souvenir.
Can't remember if we already flagged up the fact that £220 was raised for the BIrminghams Childrens Hospital - I've said it again just in case.
Yep - lets go for Glasgow next year - or if you want to make a weekend of it get flights to Inverness and I'll sort out a hall with accommodation that I know in the mountains - we could do some other stuff too like a hill or some kayaking, whisky tasting and haggis suppers!
Thanks again everybody for turning up and making it happen. There were times when I wondered if this would get support but I needn't have worried
cheers
Stephen

I wasn't completely joking when I said that. An ex colleague of mine still runs an oudoor centre in Kintail, he has lots of kayaks and does lessons/trips, the hall and sleeping facilities are excellent and I would get a good price (okay , I used to be his boss but I think he liked me well enough even so...). I flew from Inverness return to east midlands for £49 so it's not too expensive to come up here. We have a wee while to think about that one

Thanked: 131Completely count me in next one, regardless of where it is. But once again I think it should be accessible to everyone and whilst I would appreciate a meet up close by VERY MUCH, I dont want that to mean we get only a handful of attendees. Lets go for what everyone finds helpful, yeah?
But I COMPLETELY agree with making it last longer.
Oh and my wife and her friend have dubbed the meet "RAZERCON" jokingly. I confess its catchier than 'SRP:UK meet-up'

Thanked: 1You know, Cheshire is nice and accessible...
By the way, on of you guys and I apologise, but I have forgotten the guy's username (if I remember correctly his name was Steven) had a cool Wade & Butcher T-shirt on, and I was wondering, where does one get those?

That would have been Makar apparently vgod on here was doing them, I am not sure if he still is.
If we do not do the Highland weekend for the next UK meet, & it gets both of our votes, as well as Squid's, why not do it as the first SRP Scotland Meet? For which we would, of course, happily come cross-border raiding.

Yep, I was the git with the t-shirt. Vgod is the man if he has any left?
I could certainly easily organise a smaller sortie into the Highland wilds for the spring. If we used the Kintail centre it has all mod cons and is very nicely located. Willie (property manager and ranger) could organise some kayaking if folks wanted on loch duich and I can always take folk up the five sisters (qualified Mountain Leader) kayaks would cost but the walk would be free . Haggis, whisky and venison can be easily laid on and of course the str8 master classes that we can all contribute to. Self catering with showers and about 8 small rooms with 4-8 beds in each. We can book all or part. Depending on how folk would wish to arrive we can sort out transport. Minibus hire between 10 or so would be fine I am sure - not too cost prohibitive. I live 6 miles from Inverness airport and could always pick people up. Just some thoughts. I am very into wild adventures so if anybody fancies something more interesting (straight razor shaving on the banks of a remote sea loch) then I am game. In fact it is going to be part of my bespoke holiday portfolio as part of the new me following redundancy etc.!

Thanked: 84I can see you all had fun.
Any vids done?
Silver - you really did wear a leather corsette/basque thingy! I though you were messing about.
Steve looks nothing like I imagined, how the hell does he put such fine edges on razors with those big paws?
I hope I can come next time.
£220 is pretty damn good for a handful of razor freaks
Video's please
